President Joe Biden and vice-president Kamala Harris spoke on Saturday at the Congressional Black Caucuss Phoenix Awards dinner, bringing a message that its members were in a battle for the soul of the nation. Biden highlighted his relationship with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), and Black voters.
In 2020, I ran for president to redeem the soul of America, to restore decency and dignity to the office of the president, he said. I ran to rebuild the backbone of America, the middle class. And I ran to unite the country and remind ourselves when were together theres not a damn thing we cant do.
The spectre of Trump, Maga Republicans and the threat Democrats say they pose to the country loomed over Bidens remarks, and his call to action for those CBC members gathered.
The old ghosts in new garments [are] trying to seize your power and extremists coming for your freedom making it harder for you to vote and have your vote counted, closing doors of opportunity, attacking affirmative action, he said. My predecessor calls the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6 patriots, but when peaceful protesters marched for justice for George Floyd, Trump wanted to send in the military, but they wouldnt go.

(92,332 posts)Rapid/instant response to the constant bullshit that emerges every day. That is one thing Democrats have finally learned, you can't let anything these bastards spew go by without proper, immediate response.

(7,673 posts)She's technically a late-boomer born in October of 1964 but she grew up amid Gen-X with their mindset.
Gen Xers are typically described as being resourceful and independenttraits partly stemming from their latchkey childhoodsas well as keen on maintaining work-life balance, perhaps due to witnessing the demands of their parents work and subsequent absence from family life. They are often described as being cynical, attributed to the economic and societal tumult they experienced as children and young adults.
As compared with previous generations, members of Generation X are more ethnically diverse, with some one-third of Gen Xers identifying as nonwhite; are somewhat less likely to be involved in organized religion; and tend to be more liberal on social issues, such as same-sex marriage. However, this open-mindedness did not necessarily translate into a more traditionally liberal political identification: a 2022 Gallup poll showed that 27 percent of Gen Xers identified as Democrats, while 30 percent identified as Republicans. More Gen Xers44 percentchose to identify as independent, which was a higher percentage than in previous generations.

I think that's the major strategic change the swap affords Democrats. Biden is the best example of an old-school politician and knows all the rules and comes from a generation that all played by the rules even when debating. Neo politicians grew up online and are aware of social media and how news cycles are much faster and instantly responsive. They likely understand how fast you must react to instant online slander. Sometimes you can't wait for the next mainstream media interview to give your rebuttal.
In short, Kamala is better equipped to speak in empathy with the majority of current voters and politically minded people as the boomer generation naturally dwindles over time.
