PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris put Republican Donald Trump on the defensive at a combative presidential debate on Tuesday with a stream of attacks on abortion limits, his fitness for office and his myriad legal woes, as both candidates sought a campaign-altering moment in their closely fought election.
A former prosecutor, Harris, 59, appeared to get under the former president's skin repeatedly, prompting a visibly angry Trump, 78, to deliver a series of falsehood-filled retorts.
At one point, she brought up Trump's campaign rallies, goading him by saying that people often leave early "out of exhaustion and boredom."
Trump, who has been frustrated by the size of Harris' own crowds, said, "My rallies, we have the biggest rallies, the most incredible rallies in the history of politics." He then pivoted to an unsubstantiated claim that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are "eating the pets" of residents.

(7,547 posts)Game, set, match. She looked presidential and he looked lost. It looked like she knocked him off-balance at the opening when she went over to shake his hand. And it went downhill from there.

(53,549 posts)Or at least that's what happened at MSNBC. I have Directv, which has ABC blocked because of its dispute with Disney. Maybe ABC showed it. Maybe ABC will put a full length video of the debate on Youtube showing what happened.

I didn't watch the debate, but I looked at some "latest discussions" thread titles and there were a lot of threads demanding they mute his mike.

(1,249 posts)thought that after a while, when hed try to complain about something Harris said, theyd turn on his mike in mid-stream and count it as a response. It seemed like after 1 minute the mod would say, We have other issues to get to now . It really did not work out well for him, from what I saw. So Harris got her live mikes of a sort, but they followed the agreed-to debate rules.

(7,547 posts)There was one point late, if I heard right, that Trump proposed ending the debate saying something like "there is nothing more to talk about", but the debate went on.

She was masterful and exposed him for the blubbering idiot that he is. On national TV. And it was so easy. So easy.
I have been waiting for nearly a decade for someone to say "YOU'RE A DISGRACE" to his face. You go, sister.
