Trump calls for modifying 25th Amendment to make it possible to remove a vice president

Source: CNN via AOL News

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday called for “modifying” the 25th Amendment to allow for the removal of a vice president who “lies or engages in a conspiracy to cover up the incapacity of the president,” a political nonstarter and the latest escalation of his attacks on President Joe Biden and the change atop the Democratic ticket.

“If you do that with a cover-up of the president of the United States, it’s grounds for impeachment immediately and removal from office, beause that’s what they did,” Trump said during a campaign rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin.

In the wake of Biden’s poor June debate performance and his decision to end his presidential campaign a month later, Trump and his Republican allies have accused Vice President Kamala Harris and top Democrats of covering up a decline in the president’s mental fitness.

The Harris campaign declined to comment on Trump’s remarks on Saturday.

Set up a means to impeach Harris should she win?

On edit… it further occurs that if both Harris and Walz could be dispatched using this new twist on the 25th… then Johnson becomes President ( given the GOP holds Congress) and then he can make Trump’s legal problems go away. Is Trump preparing an escape hatch for his loss?

JD probably realizes TFG will be impeached and removed over those 34 felony convictions and he'll get the job, which he is exactly as prepared for as TFG was in 2016 and can be counted upon to do at least as bad a job and even more damage.

And that's on the days he doesn't think he's losing because JD is such an asshole. He's probably tried to fire JD and been shocked that he can't, not before the election and not after.

He's using the same playbook that he did last time which was saying all sorts of bullshit to get as much free PR and people talking about him as he could and falling for it a second time is a mistake.

If the President is mentally disabled, and his/her VP is disqualified from becoming President, then the Presidency goes to the Speaker of the House. This is probably not what anyone really wants.

He's a constitutional idiot, and this is an example of media sane-washing.

The fact that he's confusing the impeachment process with removal of the president under the 25th amendment should feature more prominently in the story.

Particularly given that he's been impeached twice and there were calls for his removal under the 25th, he should be more familiar with these processes.

His confusion should be the story.
