DU will be down for maintenance at 1pm ET Wednesday February 28, 2024

Hello everyone,

During the fund drive I mentioned in passing that our next major project is a required update to our database software. Elad has been working on this for the last few weeks and we will be ready to perform the update on Wednesday February 28 at 1PM ET.

During this time, DU will be unavailable. If everything goes smoothly we could be down for less than an hour, however, if we experience any problems then downtime could last longer.

You may be wondering why we're doing this in the middle of the day rather than late at night. The answer is pretty straightforward -- if something goes wrong, our support options are limited outside of normal business hours.

This update is not related to the unexpected downtime earlier today where visitors were experiencing gateway errors -- however, we do hope that the update will reduce such errors going forward.

You may also notice that Journals are currently offline for maintenance. We should have them back up and running some time after the database update is completed.

My thought is that, if there is any DU matter which needs to be addressed during a down interval, a DU administrator will post it on DU's Facebook page.

Without the warning, I would freak out when I couldn't load DU at lunch time. Now, I'll muddle through some how.
