Message to the Prop 5 supporters on this disappointing day...

(I posted this in the ADN forum as well...hope it helps in some way).

It took almost seventy years(1793 to 1862)to abolish slavery.

It took almost eighty-eight years(from 1876 to 1964)to get rid of Jim Crow.

It took almost one hundred and thirty years(1793 to 1920)for women to win the right to vote.

It took even longer than that(1793 to 1935)for unions to finally be legalized in this country with the passage of the Wagner Act(note to everybody reading this: If you aren't at this moment a millionaire, it's thanks to the labor movement that you have the time to sit here and read this website...otherwise, you'd have started your job in the sweatshop at 6 am and not finished it 'til 8 or 9 at night).

In this country, it can take a long time for justice, freedom and common humanity to win...but they DO win in the end.

The fight for a better country and a better world goes on!
