District 19 had an enthusiastic and productive meeting tonight re Holmes recall.

We have elected a recall committee and will be moving forward with gathering signatures in the coming months. Even if our efforts are thwarted, we want to keep up the pressure. Our next meeting is Monday afternoon.

It's definitely an uphill battle and we're unlikely to succeed before her term is up, but we mainly want to make it hard for her to sleep at night with not only the recall effort but an organized letter-writing campaign and so on. The object is to keep attention focused on her every political move. There's some speculation she might even quit if things get too hot for her. It wouldn't be the first time an Alaskan politician has quit under pressure. A former legislator who was at the meeting tonight said that the R's have very little respect for her and are only using her to get their supermajority.

Sarah did her big switch once she was out on the national stage, as she had been quite centrist and bipartisan as governor which is why she had such a high approval rating in the state. Once we saw what she was really like, she could never regain that popularity when she got back here, and she couldn't handle the criticism. Lindsey is going to find out that the Democrats who elected her feel betrayed and the Republicans are just using her. I don't think she'll be able to handle that over the long run.
