City says Juneau residents could receive two municipal election ballots due to registration glitch

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A mistake in ballot printing led to some voters receiving two ballots for the Juneau Municipal Election, city officials said Wednesday, adding that they aren’t worried about potential voting fraud.

A public service announcement released Wednesday notified residents of the possibility they could be impacted by what the City and Borough of Juneau is referring to as a “technical glitch” that it said impacts about 1% of voters in the state’s capitol city.

CBJ cited updated voter registrations – adjusted between August 23 and September 1 of this year – and people who voted via questioned ballots in the state primary election as the likely cause of the problem.

Juneau’s Deputy Municipal Clerk Andi Hirsh explained that the “glitch” seems to have originated within the process of printing ballots.
