OP
It looks like it all depends on where Begich and Peltola voters' second choice went

Since Peltola and Palin are leading, I don't think their second choice matters yet

Since Begich is a Republican, I think we can assume most of his votes will go to Palin.

If his second choice went to Peltola, I expect she wins. If hers went for Begich, I expect he wins.
I expect Palin's voters second choice would be Begich, but who knows...

If the results stick, then Begich will be eliminated and his second choice votes will be distributed between Palin and Peltola. Whoever gets 50%+1 wins.

(12,571 posts)4. That's right - I always forget how ranked choice works
And this after voting for the Hugo Awards for years...

(593 posts)3. It appears that MSM wants Palin to win. She is getting the most attention,
while those running against her are seldom mentioned.

(10,516 posts)6. Probably. But since he has a democrat's name, and was voted as the alternative to Palin
It may be reasonable to suggest that there may be at least close to enough votes to put the Democrat over. Palin may also be a limited second choice candidate, as well. If enough people didn't choose a second choice, that too will help the Democrat.
