AL-LG: Race for Alabama's next lieutenant governor heats up

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) — The race for the state’s next lieutenant governor is heating up.

Former Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl is joining a wide field of candidates who have qualified for that seat. Some of the candidates reacted to his decision on the campaign trail. Wahl is touting an endorsement from President Donald Trump.

Other qualified Republican candidates include Secretary of State Wes Allen, Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Rick Pate, Nicole Jones Wadsworth, George Childress, Pat Bishop, Dean Odle and Dr. Stewart Hill Tankersley.

Qualified Democratic candidates include Rep. Phillip Ensler (D-Montgomery) and Darryl D. Perryman
