Huntsville Hospital plans to open the first drive-thru test site for COVID-19 on Friday, the first north Alabama location where those showing symptoms of the novel coronavirus can see if they have been infected.
David Spillers, CEO of Huntsville Hospital, emphasized at a Thursday press conference that those interested in being tested must have gotten authorization from a doctor that a test is needed.
I would like to remind the public that you will need a physician order to get a test a the drive-up clinic, Spillers said. "I would also like to remind the public that if you dont have any symptoms and you have no need to get a test, you should not have one. The test you take to make sure youre OK might be the one we need for your mother and then she might not get one.

The test site will be in John Hunt Park where Joe Davis Stadium is located and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those seeking to be tested must also bring a photo ID, drivers license and health insurance card. The testing site can be accessed from Airport Road by turning onto Jaycee Way.
Huntsville Hospital said people who do not have a physicians order have other test options available at Huntsville Hospitals Fever & Flu Clinic at 120 Governors Drive, in local urgent care centers and at walk-in clinics.
