yet another note to my congressman
My congressman: Mo Brooks.
No, I have no expectation of ever changing the man. He's a hopeless extremist. One of the worst. But I still get some level of cathartic satisfaction in letting him know that not all of his constituents are agree with his extremist views.
Congressman Brooks,
I was saddened to hear recently of your illness. I hope that things work out for you in that regard and your treatment goes well. It must be reassuring, at this point in particular, for you to know that you have taxpayer-funded health insurance to help with your medical expenses. For you, this doesnt have to be a death sentence and, for your family, this doesnt have to be a prelude to bankruptcy. Now, for just a moment, think about all of those Americans not as fortunate as you in this regard. Think about their amplified terror when facing such a diagnosis. Before you cast yet another vote to take health insurance away from millions of Americans, please consider where you would be without your coverage and see the world through their eyes. In other words, love thy neighbor as thyself. It truly is that simple.
