Man seeking to marry his computer sues Alabama over gay marriage

A man who claims to have married his computer in New Mexico has sued the state of Alabama for refusing to recognize the marriage, according to court records.

This is only the latest in a long string of such lawsuits filed by Chris Sevier, who describes his sexual orientation as "machinist." Sevier has filed similar lawsuits in Texas and Utah and filed a suit in Colorado seeking to force a baker to make a wedding cake for him and his computer "bride," according to multiple news reports.

Sevier filed a federal lawsuit in Alabama's Northern District on Aug. 31 alleging his rights, along with the rights of individuals his complaint identifies as "an ex-gay" and "an ex-transgender," were violated by Gov. Kay Ivey, Attorney General Steve Marshall and Blount County Probate Judge Chris Green.

In the filing, Sevier claimed he "married an object in New Mexico with female like features" and asked Green to either recognize the union or issue him a new marriage license. "Defendant Green issues marriage licenses to individuals who self-identify as homosexual, but he refuses to issue marriage licenses to zoophiles, machinists, and polygamists license on a basis that can only be described as procedurally arbitrary," the complaint states.

...with his computer! I don't agree with the point he is trying to make, but I would definitely sell him a wedding cake.

is to keep it within the species. And observe local laws about minimum age of marriage.

This man is definitely violating that first rule, and possibly even the second.

I hope it for him but...really it is highly uncertain. Computers become obsolete very quickly

Well, at least, this guy is not dangerous. He is what we call in French : "un doux dingue"

I would also say : il a une araignée au plafond . Literally it means "he have a spider on the ceiling" but I think the idiomatic expression is "he have bats in the belfry" " he have a geranium in the cranium" "he is as nutty as a fruitcake". Maybe there is other expressions.

That should be a saying suitable for cultural appropriation from the French/Belgians.

France and Belgium we say "Une araignée au plafond". I don't know the origin of the expression.

I found "The geranium in the cranium" while looking for an equivalent expression of ours. I never heard it before, I thought it is a funny one.

Place your bets, folks! How long before he's in the news after getting caught doing something that isn't sanctioned by the sanctified sex police?

As artificial intelligence advances this will be a thing society will have to figure out and someday someone will look back at this case as precedence and there will be all sorts of arguments a out it.

He had such a nice voice. Maybe an affair. But not marriage. He was just too big and bulky.
