One U.S. Navy veteran's north Alabama business is celebrating Independence Day with an unusual special: a free AR-15 with every new roof. Yes, it's legal.
Digital Roofing Innovations is making quite a splash with its early marketing campaigns. The Decatur-based business has only been around about a year. A July 4 ad promoting the special on Facebook had been shared more than 400 times in its first six hours online.
"Donald Trump says make America great again. I say make America gun again. MAGA!" Owner Zach Blenkinsopp says in the ad, shirtless, wearing cowboy boots, an American flag hat and short star-patterned shorts while holding an AR15. "Some of you might be sitting there saying, 'Man, this sounds like a gimmick.' A gimmick you say? Well I'm a gosh darn Navy veteran, active duty eight and a half years. My roofing company's not a gimmick and this baby's not either. It's here to protect you and your family."
Blenkinsopp, a Florence native, served in the Navy from 2004 until 2012. He's seen companies elsewhere give away free guns with purchase, but he's never seen it from a veteran-owned company. The company also offers military discounts.

(116,509 posts)might not have kind words for you as a woman who wants to change the natural order of things. They will insist that you take the AR-15 or they will make the hole in your roof bigger. Must take gunz!!!

(221,157 posts)Though you'd be surprised that I'm not bad with a gun - though it's been years. In my teens I belonged to a couple of rifle teams, I learned to shoot at summer camp, was on the team there - all girls - and then I was on the team at school, the first and only girl. I was "second man" on the team!
But we only shot at paper targets and the guns were locked up at camp or at school. Like most here, I'm a big proponent of strict gun control, think repeal of the AWB was tragic. I don't need a gun, but at least I know how to use one. Giving just anyone a gun, let alone an AR-15, is horrific.
