https://thedailyrecord.com/2026/07/09/judge-orders-payment-e-jean-carroll/NEW YORK A U.S. judge on Wednesday authorized the payment of a multimillion-dollar verdict to magazine writer E. Jean Carroll to satisfy a 2023 civil verdict in which a jury found President Donald Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming her.
U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan ordered the disbursement of nearly $5.8 million to the former Elle magazine advice columnist, representing the original $5 million verdict plus interest.

Congrats E Jean, my queen.
Justice at last. You are braver than more than a few powerful men and women.
You are the little engine that could. Thank you for standing up to this vile monster who still believes he can take what he wants without permission.
Please collect the rest of money.

(25,270 posts)Trump had to pony up the money himself in order to file his multiple losing appeals. Accordingly, Ms. Carroll will be paid the principle plus interest by the Court, not Trump.
In Ms. Carroll's second case, Trump didn't have the cash to put up the $85 million, (I think that was the amount), in order to file his appeals. If I recall correctly, Trump put up 10% and an insurance company guaranteed (not put up) the balance. If the Courts concur that Trump has to pay what will be nearly $100 million (principle plus interest), he will have to pay the insurance company the balance, (he probably won't).
Good thing he's been disgustingly and grossly profiting as president.

(18,305 posts)with the courts, the courts now control the money, Trumpedo has zero say over how it's disbursed.
IOW, he's already ponied up the money.

(1,820 posts)He can cry all he wants, but whoever was in charge of the account has to give her the money, no delays, no excuses. It's over.
And don't worry, Trump will just take the money from us, he isn't out a dime.

(8,279 posts)and yes, I wonder what his next cruel deflection will be? A nuke on Iran? a nuke on one of our blue states? He's already withholding recovery money from four blue states. Demanding his masked boot stompers start shooting protestors on sight? Shutting down Medicare and Social Security? Moving "his" stuff back to Mar a lago and taking a wrecking ball to OUR White House? There are so many ways to be cruel when you're a sadist like him, and he's been made SO mad and humiliated in such an openly public way! Seriously, I do worry how this will play out on all of us... altho I salute E. Jean... it took courage and stamina to do what so few men have had the fortitude to do -- stand up to him and not back down!

(43,332 posts)Chump paid this money to the court over 3 years ago, because it's required when the loser files an appeal. By then he was already being sued the 2nd time, and the judge awarded E.Jean much more money in that one.
Chump is being a jerk about this (well he can't help being a jerk) because he's hoping she won't pursue the big one.
I hope she does, but I wouldn't blame her if she decides not to.
Time for a celebration!

(18,063 posts)I've seen nothing confirming that. It is incumbent upon the court to distribute funds held in trust as soon as possible. Just seems odd that Carroll's attorney's haven't posted some big celebratory pictures. Every day that it is held is a day less that she has access and control for investing how she feels appropriate, etc.
Trust me in that I WANT those pictures for the orange asshole to have to look at.
