Zelenskyy Is Going To Retake Crimea Without A Land Invasion

When Russia seized Crimea, in the aftermath, Putin gave sweetheart deals for Russians to move there, Putin guaranteed their safety, guaranteed to protect them. 800,000 Russians moved into Crimea.

All of the protection is gone. Ukraine has blown up bridges that are used to get supplies in and out of Crimea. The ships at the ports are gone. The airspace over Crimea is controlled by Ukraine. Gas and oil facilities have been bombed by Ukraine, the people can't buy gasoline.

Putin is moving air defense systems out of southern and Eastern Ukraine to shore up air defense of Moscow, leaving the Russian troops much less protected.

Now the most recent news, 1,500 cars were in a huge traffic jam waiting to get the hell out, the Russians are self-deporting.

Zelenskyy has this modern warfare thing down to a science.

Ukraine was the brain trust and industrial center of Russia before the fall of the USSR. Most ship building and design was centered there. Their aviation design and production centers were there. Food production was there. Putin knew he had to have Ukraine to rebuild his intellectual and industrial base. Instead, it is the leopard that ate his face.

is to deliberately leave this one bridge intact -for now- to allow the Russians who migrated to leave, while quite visibly destroying nearby infrastructure - a clear message for them to get out while they still can. He has hinted that it will be a target soon, and they will be stuck without protection or an exit.

Ukraine has prosecuted this war in a way that will be studied in history books.

The US under Trump and talk show host, macho man Hegseth are getting rid of experienced military leaders who happen to be minorities or women and wasting billions of tax dollars on a war that has accomplished nothing other than almost bringing the global economy to its knees and reinforcing Iran's ability to damage the global economy whenever it chooses. We are being led by childish amateurs; Ukraine and NATO are being led by professionals.

I don't know that they have the military strength to fight against the Russian invaders, or they would have been wiped out early. I believe Crimea was mainly a vacation & tourist area for Ukraine, not a strategic industrial target. The main livelihoods are fishing and farming in Crimea.

It's the Russians who stole Crimea for its strategic access to the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.

and other occupied areas motivate the Ukrainians to fight with everything they've got. They are fighting for survival and know what fates await them if the lose.

Gemini summary followed by references (apply whatever level of scepticism you bring to all AI)

Since the illegal annexation and occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in 2014, ethnic Ukrainians and the indigenous Crimean Tatar population have faced systemic, state-endorsed atrocities. International watchdogs like the United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) and Amnesty International have classified these acts as war crimes and potential crimes against humanity. The recorded atrocities, human rights violations, and campaigns to erase Ukrainian identity include the following:

Enforced Disappearances and Extrajudicial Killings

Abductions by Proxy Forces: Paramilitary groups, such as the "Crimean self-defense," and the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) have routinely abducted pro-Ukrainian activists.Reshat Ametov: A Crimean Tatar activist who was kidnapped during a peaceful protest in March 2014 and later found dead with signs of brutal torture, widely recognized as the first victim of the occupation.

Unresolved Disappearances: The OHCHR has documented dozens of enforced disappearances where victims were tortured to force self-incrimination, with zero accountability or prosecutions by local authorities.

Torture and Inhumane Detention Conditions

The Simferopol Detention Network: Secret and official facilities, such as the newly integrated SIZO No. 2 in Simferopol, are utilized to hold civilians abducted from mainland Ukraine (e.g., Kherson and Zaporizhzhia) alongside local dissenters.

Systematic Abuse: Detainees are routinely subjected to regular beatings, electric shocks, psychological degradation, and denial of legal counsel to break them into signing fabricated confessions for the FSB.

Punitive Psychiatry: Soviet-style forced psychiatric incarceration has been revived to silence political prisoners who object to the occupation.

"Filtration" Camps and Illegal Conscription

Filtration Checks: Civil populations attempting to cross the administrative border between mainland Ukraine and Crimea are subjected to abusive "filtration checks". Those who fail are systematically detained.

Forced Conscription: In direct violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, Russia enforces military conscription on the occupied population, drafting local Ukrainians and Tatars to fight against their own country. Raids targeting communities have sparked mass displacement.

Cultural and Identity Eradication (Russification)

Elimination of Language: The de facto authorities have entirely suppressed the Ukrainian language, eradicating Ukrainian-language tuition from regional schools.

Banning of Organizations: The Mejlis, the representative self-governing body of the Crimean Tatars, was outlawed as an "extremist organization". Similarly, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has been functionally banned from practicing.

Destruction of Cultural Heritage: Ukrainian books have been systematically purged from local libraries, and any public exhibition of loyalty to Ukraine, including displaying the flag or singing patriotic songs, results in severe reprisals or imprisonment.Reports by Human Rights Watch and investigations tracked via the international Crimea Platform note that the decade-long operational matrix of repression established in Crimea serves as the primary blueprint for atrocities currently being committed in newly occupied territories of mainland Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський
@ZelenskyyUa
Our long-range operations are consistent, precise responses to Russia dragging out the war and attacking Ukrainian cities and communities.

Last night, Defense Forces units struck the Poltavska oil depot in the Krasnodar region. The target was approximately 300 kilometers from the front line. This morning, the Security Service of Ukraine hit two oil refineries in Ufa – Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-Novoil. That’s 1,500 kilometers from the front line.

We are implementing our long-range sanctions plan. I thank all Ukrainian warriors who ensure our precision. The Russians should be thinking about real diplomacy instead of once again trying to trick others or buy time. The war must be brought to an end.

He is reinventing modern warfare much to the chagrin of the 'superpowers'. But like Drumpfs war with Iran, you can only get so far with "bombing the shit out of people". Once all they have left to defend is their lives and you are still defending your way of life you have everything to lose and you are going to lose. You can't defend wealth and extravagance against people backed against a corner fighting for their existence.

Inexpensive tech that is perfect for terrorist attacks just about anywhere. Set and forget. Load biometric details and assisinaton drones could be next.

With more help from the US, Ukraine could have put even more pressure on Russia and Putin. Maybe a little more pressure would have spurred a coup. I know it's possible the next leader of Russia is worse but it's also possible the next leader of Russia realizes that Putin and baddies bled the country dry and is willing to legitimately be part of the world economy.

having no close air support or air defense. They're probably already running out of artillery and small arms ammunition.

Having recently lost more of the Donbas, taking Crimea would be a strategic win. Then tell Putin, "sure, now we'll negotiate. Leave the Donbas and the Luhansk and surrender".

That's what Ukraine's been blowing up lately. Their whole strategy is to completely cut off the limited number of routes into Crimea, all of which are controlled by Russia as of now. Even if Russia withdraws Ukraine will have to rebuild bridges just to move in, so Russia will likely be able to do the same thing to keep Ukraine out too.
