(4,187 posts)These are women who held power, yes, but that was within the realm of the overall patriarchal power system. I'm speaking in generalities here, and also talking about a wholesale shift in paradigm

(3,839 posts)Sorry, it's the individual that counts. Nothing forced the women I mentioned to be who they were.

(2,256 posts)The ability to balance logic with empathy isn't just available to women. Yes women through our cultural teachings tend towards that, but I think it is also often present in others who have either faced discrimination or trauma. Biden and Obama were great at it for example.
I don't think anyone should be describing a formerly overt fascist, now "just" nationalist anti-gay anti-immigrant far right leader like Giorgia Meloni in such a positive light as to compare her with Michelle Obama and Claudia Sheinbaum. Yeah she didn't knuckle under to Trump, but they still share a lot of the same horrible values.

(8,195 posts)Kinds of declarations or assertions. If no other time in history, certainly current stable of women holding office of power across most positions of power who are proud maggots, completely devoid of any resemblance of logic or empathy. County clerks to the u.s. Supreme Court

(25,962 posts)I think it is because of life experience, not a natural proclivity for women to be more empathetic and/or logical. I think women are so used to be undervalued, underestimated, and misjudged that they naturally pull out all the stops just to be accepted. I can tell you from experience (I'm female) that the pressure to be all things to everyone at all times is immense. If men experienced that, maybe they would rival women's abilities in these areas.
