FETTERMAN CONFRONTED: “I’m a breast cancer survivor, I had a double mastectomy, and the Trump administration took my health care away… And you’re standing with him.”

I have empathy for medical patients seeking treatment and healing.

I have no respect for those who hire the mentally-deficient, exploiting and expecting them to behave the same as a person with a non-diseased brain.

It’s why they lashed cannons to the decks of sailing warships in centuries past.

Lest they become “loose cannons”.

I thought he needed that reader when he left the hospital post-stroke.

The stroke could’ve damaged his ability to process auditory sound but left the brain areas that enables reading just fine. No? My understanding is that Fetterman sometimes has difficulty hearing words; the recording device helps.

Now, let’s talk about Fetterman’s judgement and some of his votes. Both leave a lot to be desired. Definitely a Manchin.

And you do deaf people a real disservice by conflating the two. Not only did it affect his hearing, his brain is not processing normally, thus, he cannot do the job effectively. Even with his device, he's still left stammering. He needs to go.

but not necessarily disqualifying.

I use live captions in video meetings because I have a mild auditory processing disorder myself. At the same time I am the go-to expert in my several areas of expertise for my IT department. (I don't appreciate the woman recording equating an APD with being "brain-dead". But she is apparently young and limited in experience of disabilities.)

Fetterman presents legitimate issues for Democrats. But relying on captions or translation for conversations is not itself disqualifying.

I am not impressed with the woman who took this video nor the way she approached him. Before she approached him, she referred to him as "Fetter-MAGA" which shows her mind was already made up. I don't think he needs to switch to Independent - no point. I do think we need to primary him with a candidate who can also win in PA.

Just like Manchin, he helped us with the majority. Trying to push him out before the midterms is not logical.

No doubt if we are fortunate to win the House back and the house tries to impeach trump, he will vote against conviction in the Senate.

I never cared for fetterman and was hoping. For Connor Lamb, but got push back from quite a few here how Lamb was. Just another “establishment Democrat”.

At least not for some congress people and Senators. Good work if you can get it, but many of us wouldn't want it once we saw what it entailed in our political system. There's a nearly constant need to fund raise if you want to get reelected.

In fact, most of them aren't. There's work to do back home in their states and districts. And, since our entire political system runs on dollars, a significant amount of that time is spent fund raising for the next reelection cycle.

Citizens United just cemented it into our society. I'm still of the (now) old belief that elections should be paid for with a stipend from the government, and run only within a certain time frame prior to the election. I think England does the latter now, tho I'm not absolutely sure of that.

We don't need fundraising and campaigning for a future election the minute an election is over with... which trump constantly does, as do his R cronies. And I'm sick and tired of money grabbing from billionaires who then take over and run our government with OUR money, while we have no say whatsoever. The representatives don't represent us, The People. They only represent those who contribute mightily to their campaigns. Enough! The whole system (like so much else) has to be taken down to the studs and rebuilt.

24. This is why I've been saying he needs to resign
Sat May 23, 2026, 07:01 PM
Yesterday

He has problems with speaking, listening, and processing his thoughts in conversation.

He's not deaf but he needs to read subtitles when he's in conversations with people, just so he can process what is being said. That's how bad it is. He's not mentally ill but he was being treated for depression. (Maybe he still is?)

There's a very good chance that Chump is blackmailing Fetterman because his wife and her family came to the US as illegal immigrants, when Gisela was 7 years. She has since that time become a naturalized citizen and she has earned multiple master's degrees. I don't know whether the rest of her family are naturalized, but I hope they are. It would be terrible and immoral for Chump to threaten Fetterman's family, but who's going to stop him?

I'm saying this as a Pennsylvania voter and former supporter of Fetterman: The best thing for him to do is resign for medical reasons and allow Gov. Shapiro to appoint a replacement this year.

If Fetterman tries to run again in '28 he'll be primaried and almost surely lose. The Repukes don't want him, I know that for a fact. They're just happy that Fetterman is screwing the Democrats. Gov. Shapiro could probably find a nice easy job for him doing something for the State of Pennsylvania.

but not sure if I agree with "the Repukes don't want him" part.
Why wouldn't they? He can 'walk their line' - 'somebody' on that side has 'control' of him - and he has won in Pennsylvania before.
And look at who the 'Repukes' have in other high offices of theirs that control the PA 'Repuke' machine.
Yes - he needs help - and I would have no problem with Shapiro giving him some 'job' to keep him busy and out of the way.

I am clinically deaf and even with a cochlear implant I struggle to understand what people are saying, especially in a public setting like a supermarket. I personally find a lot of these comments insulting and not becoming of Democratic voters.
I did not know that Fetterman was struggling with this everyday like I do.

79. The 9% when he doesn't, we need him.

The 91% when he does, his vote isn't deciding anything.

a 91 is an A-. An excellent grade. We need all the Democratic senators we can get. As a Jew, I understand why he is all in for Israel. While I personally am outraged by the attack on Iran, a lot of liberal, progressive Jews side with Israel on the Iran attack.

Don't apply grades to votes.

I also don't care about your personal religious beliefs nor do I think they are germane to Fetterman's support for (a) war in Iran, (b) genocide in Gaza, or (c) normalization of Trump's behavior.

If the whole class gets 100%, and Fetterman gets 91% it makes him a dim bulb.

oyah and (d) willingness to accept the murder of US citizens in cold blood on our streets by a paramilitary ICE/CBP police force.

So, yeah, 91%. Give me a break.

Fetterman has a clear disability. Post-stroke, his brain is unable to fully process auditory input. That's why he uses his cell phone to close caption conversations. As Democrats/liberals/progressives, we are understanding of and show compassion toward people with disabilities.

I knew a person who had aphasia after a brain injury from a stroke, I believe. He began each interaction with a standard phrase saying he had aphasia so whoever he was speaking with understood. That is what Fetterman and Gisele need to learn to do, begin each interaction with anyone they don't know telling that person Fetterman has an audio processing disability, needs to translate words to text and needs his cell phone or other device and could they please speak clearly so the device can accurately translate. Something as simple as "I do not process spoken words well. Could you please speak clearly into my speech to text transcriber."

He has emotional disturbances too. He has been reported staring blankly at the walls of his office and having periods of emotional incontinence.

He is not mentally fit enough to serve as 1% of the most powerful legislative body in the country.

There are others that could do it better.

If we win a 51 vote majority in the caucus, he will split to the GOP faster than he can say cerebral hypoxia induced necrosis
