Way back, a life time ago, I was a young prosecutor. I was getting my first murder case. We had a witness who identified the shooter but they weren't what I would have considered reliable, let alone reliable enough to take to trial without other evidence. My investigator and the homicide detective brought the guy who had been identfied in for questioning without telling him what it was about-with this guy it could have been any of a dozen different things. We were going in to question him and I asked my investigator what we should ask first. He said nothing. We're just going to let him talk. Sure enough, the first thing he said after we sat down and read him his rights was "I don't know nothin' ". So we asked nothing about what? He replied "I don't know nothin' 'bout no shooting over on 13th Avenue" Nobody had said anything about a shooting, let alone a shooting on 13th Avenue. (people getting shot were not exactly rare events) He proceeded to place himself at the scene, said it was him, told us it was self-defense and where he had dumped the gun, all in short order.
Why oh why did Melania's little press conference yesterday take me back to that day 40 years ago? I don't know nothin' 'bout no Epstein Files. I'm betting that this is going to lead to a real tale of romance. Trump sees Melania in either naked photos or a porn movie from Slovenia. Orders her up like a mail order bride through Epstein and some kind of shennaigans gets her into the country illegally and it is magically changed to legal status. Ordinarily, I wouldn't care less. But under the circumstances, and certainly with armed thugs snatching people up and putting them in our brand new Gulags, it takes on a little different meaning doesn't it? Make them start talking. You let them talk long enough thinking they can explain everything away, they're going to confess. Yeah, Melania doesn't know nothin'. Nothing about what?
