US investigators believe strike on Iranian girls' school probably carried out by US forces. Warning graphic.

US military officials briefed on investigation make disclosure, while Pentagon has confirmed only that inquiry is under way.

Military investigators believe it is likely that US forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls’ school that killed scores of children on Saturday but have not yet reached a final conclusion, according to two US officials.

Reuters was unable to determine further details about the investigation, including what evidence contributed to the tentative assessment, what type of munition was used, who was responsible or why the US might have struck the school.

The Pentagon chief, Pete Hegseth, on Wednesday acknowledged the US military was investigating the incident.

Stuff:

So the attack was a “double tap” operation where a second attack happened shortly after the
first one in order to kill more people included Iranians coming to help the victims.

As of 3 days ago the casualties were 168 dead and 95 wounded or 263 dead or wounded most
of which were school girls ages 7 to 12 years old. The number of dead has no doubt risen because
many of the wounded will have passed because of their injuries.

Where are all those good American Christians now?

Let's face it we are a full out terrorist nation. We constantly kill thousands to millions of children in every war, police action, and now against our own civilians.
I don't know how long other countries trust us, if they every do.

Hegseth's attack on "woke" rules means that target vetting is basically non-existent.

They were sailing towards the conflict zone. At least that has some justification, whether or not you agree with it. But this? NOPE. Just flat out murder.

That too was murder in order to distract from the released information that Trump was abusing
a 13 year old girl as he was masturbating.

Set nearby the school.

From the start it seemed to me like this was bad, or incompetent, targeting intel and we hit the school as part of that other group of buildings.

I wouldn't put it past this admin to bomb a school on purpose....but it doesn't seem like something that would help them.

But that won't matter to the grieving parents, or Iranians who will volunteer to take revenge in any way they can.

Whatever terrorist threat exixted before, has just been multiplied.

Just saying that the US military isn't targeting schools on purpose. But when you decide to drop bombs you are also accepting that you will kill a lot of civillians.

And no, it doesn't seem like it would help them. As another DUer pointed out, it seems AI programs were used in the targeting, like they did with Gaza. Hard to know if there was also human choice to conveniently target the girls school because we know how much they want women to be educated. So many possibilities for the so-called superior intelligence of AI to create at best, merely idiotic outcomes, while we are ostensibly "proving our air superiority". First it was Pegasus from Israel I think (sort of like a super dark version of six degrees of Kevin Bacon), now Maven, Anthropic, Claude, etc. Hard to keep up. Would not be surprised if Iran deliberately put the girl's school there either but that sounds paranoid right? No wonder Anthropic bailed.
