An estimated 87 million Netflix users could lose access this weekend as the streaming service quietly phases out support for older devices.
It affects users who still watch Netflix on Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3), according to a warning message shared online by viewers.
It states: 'Unfortunately, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after March 2, 2026. Visit netflix.com/compatibledevices to see a list of supported devices.'
Netflix has not issued an official announcement, but the PS3 was the final seventh-generation console to retain official support, making it the last device of its era affected by the company's updated compatibility policies.

Newer consoles, including the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, are not impacted.
See the article for streaming on smart tv's, streaming sticks, etc, but older smart tv's may fall by the wayside.
Please consult the article.
There's more info there.
I don't use any of the above.
Edit to add: a Hacker News user says:
"Standard Daily Mail clickbait title. Theyre dropping support for the PS3. Thats it."

(5,137 posts)3. Hopefully those people have a newer device
PS3 is quite old. Most people likely have more than one device so it shouldnt be much of an issue.

(3,405 posts)4. About 6 months ago I had the AC maintenance guy inside and he saw my old, pristine PS3 on a shelf
He excitedly told me he still loves his PS3 but that it broke and he sent it to Sony for repairs and it's been 6 months and he's annoyed.
I said "Well, that sucks. Here you go!" and cleared a space on my "old hardware" shelf
The thing came out out around when Obama took office IIRC. I didn't know Netflix could even still be used on PS3. This is going to be a hardship for very, very few people, at least in the USA. OTOH, someplace embargo'd for years like Cuba, it might be pretty widely inconvenient.
