Let's take a trip back and

remember our favorite record stores from when we were "kids" (I still am despite the wrinkles and gray hair) and getting that 45 or LP we wanted was so special. Mine was Radio Doctor's and another was Mean Mountain Music of the '50's and '60's. MM was 45 oriented and the place was on Oklahoma Ave. in Milwaukee and I never saw so many 45's in one place in my life. Every rocker, rock-a-billy, doo-wop, girl group, juke box crooner etc. you ever heard of and tons you never heard of were all there in well arranged bins with name dividers alphabetized and you could spend your life in there and not get through it all.

I put this up and a hat tip to debm55 for being the inspiration by asking her great questions of the DU community and prompting us for our fond memories. Merry Christmas to debm55.

Absolutely loved spending time (and my hard earned babysitting money) at Tower back in the day.

and Jam Sessions ensued.

Records, yeah lots of old Big Band, Swing, Jazz when I came into the world. Didn't buy an LP myself until 1970 or 71. Don't recall where I got them.

I bought records, tapes and CDs there until it finally went belly-up. Good times.

12. There was a small record shop in my neighborhood and when I got my allowance I would walk the 10 blocks

To get my 2-3 45rpms that were $1. And then walked the 10 blocks home and play them before dinner! I could have taken the bus but there were other stores I liked stopping by a corner book store, a discount variety store, a comic book store and a bakery. I still live I the same city but in a different district but sometimes I have driven by that route I walked and those memories float back of that walk. All those moments and pop stores are long gone sadly.

Sometimes I’d drive up to the south side of Indy and shop at Obadiah’s Wonderwall. On rare occasions I’d get all the way up to Broadripple and check out Karma Records.

When I lived in Bloomington my go-to was Duroc Records. There were a couple other record stores in town including a really good second hand store. I don’t remember their names.
