Herbert Hoover, via his AG, ordered the veterans of the Bonus Army to be removed.

On July 28, 1932, U.S. Attorney General William D. Mitchell ordered the veterans removed from all government property. Washington police met with resistance, shot at the protestors, and two veterans were wounded and later died. President Herbert Hoover then ordered the U.S. Army to clear the marchers' campsite. Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur commanded a contingent of infantry and cavalry, supported by six tanks. The Bonus Army marchers with their wives and children were driven out, and their shelters and belongings burned.

Having the U.S. Army coming into D.C. to "assist" D.C. police in 1932 -- please tell me how this is comparable to the current situation. It isn't martial law. There was no Insurrection Act. But local police were downgraded to allowing the U.S. military perform their duties of protecting the safety of all within the District.

Most people don't know or like to remember that one...Patton's troops fired on his troops that he had led in WW1.

MacArthur was his usual pompous ass self...Patton turned away the man that saved his life in WW1.

Pretty shameful really.

I mean, one way or another they'll probably end up somewhere that Work Can Set Them Free, I just don't know that it'll be 'the fields'. Probably have to keep them in 'camps' of some sort
