This evening, a fire truck was coming from the opposite direction, sirens blaring, lights blazing. There was an obstinate car that refused to make way. I later realized it was a Waymo driverless car. It didn't know better. I hope that clueless AI didnât cause any consequential damage.

I ask, because Waymo vehicles routinely deal with these situations ...
I also point out (as I do every time this argument comes up) - the innumerable number of 'personal driver' vehicles in every city (and any other jurisdiction) that are continuously and forever clueless in their driving habits and behavior. For every "didn't know better" mistake performed by a Waymo vehicle - I'll give you an even 50 - executed by the clueless, uninformed (and just plain 'heedless and reckless' ) personal operator.
