Sleazeball Trump Bewildered by Public Rejection of His Unpopular Agenda

Editor Michael Tomasky tells the New Republic that President Donald Trump appears frustrated that hes not more popular.
He complains, we read, that hes accomplished a great deal and that hes keeping his campaign promises So he cant figure out why hes at 37 percent, writes Tomasky.
I could tell him why, Tomasky addsand No. 1 is likely because the promises hes managing to keep are unpopular.
And you cant discount the promises Trumps broken, Tomasky said. These include lowering prices on day one, ending Russias war on Ukraine and bringing peace to the Middle East, among others.
But Trumps policy failures pale in comparison to his other major flaw keeping his numbers low, said Tomasky.
But its Epstein that is catching up with him, writes Tomasky. And that story is far from over.

(39,840 posts)Its not like he didnt tell voters EXACTLY what he was going to do, and told them many times over, during the campaign.
I am SO DONE with hearing how unpopular he is and how I didnt vote for THAT.
Yet he remains on his throne to continue to destroy America. No R with a spine in Congress evidently. They could put a stop to it if they werent so cowardly.

(21,639 posts)Yet we apply rationality to them for making a really bad choice. Like they're college students who failed a test. They vote very shallow, based on sound bites and popular conceptions. For people like me and you, that's insane. Sucks, but that's the world we live in. Case in point, ask the average voter what Project 2025 is and more than likely you'll get a puzzled stare or a millimeter deep understanding.
Repukes are very good at tapping into that shallow understanding, or misunderstanding, and shaping prevailing notions, i.e. Reagan's catchy phrase " Government isn't the solution to the problem, government is the problem. That stuck in American minds even though it's stupidly simplistic and ridiculous. That's how they turned the word liberal from something virtuous to a pejorative. I'm old enough to remember when being liberal was generally a good thing. Worse yet, Dems let them do it. Mainly because we're just not good at shaping the popular view anymore. Not since the 70's.
Dems today act like goddamn college professors. That doesn't win elections. Never has. We need to get back to understanding how voters actually tick. Understand their shallowness and sheep like behavior. Shape popular conception and use it to our advantage, instead of relying on Repukes to fuck things up royally in order to get back into power. Way past time for offense and not mealy mouthed defense. Hopefully, it's not too late.

(39,840 posts)Liberals need to come up with something like that. Billboards, TV ads, too.

(37,488 posts)That is if I believed that he somehow became popular enough to carry the vote in 2024. Which I dont.

(3,883 posts)If he can't figure out why he's so unpopular, he's a complete dumbass, another reason he's not fit to be president.
GopherGal
(2,803 posts)disclaiming anything to do with it. He gets in office and starts using it as his playbook and belatedly "realizes" the actual policies in there are tremendously unpopular? Yeah, right.

(64,316 posts)To *rump, people are just objects to be manipulated solely for furthering his own ambitions.
One of MAGA's; greatest mistakes was in believing that despite all the vitriol and hatred hurled toward their perceived enemies, whether it be minorities, immigrants or the other is that *rump doesn't care about them either, he views them with hidden disdain, made evident by his 180 on Epstein.
The only person that *rump is capable of caring about is himself.
Thanks for the thread babylonsister.
