Good summary of what makes California such an economic juggernaut, and why it's so hard to replicate that in other states.

(3,039 posts)We really can be who/what we want (as long as it is legal) and find others like us to hang out with. Everyone talks about our cost of living and taxes but we probably have the most personal freedom of any U.S. State.

(23,710 posts)Should have started decades ago giving all the deep red states the California treatment Reps have given.
The poverty, crime, education, health, incomes, and economies of the deepest red states are all near last in the country. Yet Dems rarely talk about how Republican leadership is a disaster for states like MS, AL, LA, TN, MO, OK, SC, and a few others. Some of those places have large areas that are near 3rd World conditions.

Furthermore, you don't want California to fail, if it does, your state is going to have shit load of problems.
