The more reality fails to live up to Trump's fantasies, the more enraged he becomes. Rage is more comfortable than admitting to himself that he's scared and sad.

It's funny because others who were critizied frequently in their formative years often go to the other extreme. In this scenario counseling has been known to help to at least some extent.

I am not a psychiatrist but as someone who was diagnosed as falling into the second scenario, this is what I believe happens to people who often feel partially or totally rejected by others.
