'Farms will vanish': Cherry farms become ghost towns amid Trump's ICE crackdown

By Daniel Hampton
Published June 19, 2025 8:31 PM ET

Cherry growers say they're seeing a severe labor shortage amid President Donald Trump's nationwide immigration crackdown, leading to a massive shortage of berries.

A grower in the Mattawa, Washington, area lost about 300 bins — each weighing at least 350 pounds, horticulturist Erik Zavala told area told The Spokesman-Review in a report published this week.

“People watch the news,” Zavala said, referring to masked federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detaining people as part of Trump's ramped-up immigration effort. “It’s definitely having an impact."

But the propaganda that shapes their reality will tell them to blame Biden, even while their crops rot on the ground. And most of them will obediently blame Biden.

Where are they?

They were told the immigrants were stealing their jobs. Well now those jobs are available.

Where are all those white nationalist?

I’ve been informed they are most excellent at cherry picking details. Put those skills to use magaloongoons.

U-Pick works great for picturesque farms conveniently located near major population centers. Not seeing people driving hours to pick fruit in 11O+ degree heat in the California Central Valley. U-Pick is recreation/tourism not agriculture.

To me - that’s a lot of cherries!

I bought cherries yesterday at about $5 a pound, so that farmer’s crop was worth, retail, about $525,000.

of hearing about all these sub-groups of Trumphumpers screaming...........Medicaid cuts to Rural America, by the Senate Republicans, Farmers getting screwed by Trump/ICE. etc etc etc..........

Hey all you stupid, ignorant, mindless Fucks who voted for not only Trump, but Republican Senators, Republican House Members, Republican State Governors.............you deserve everything that's coming your way, and more.........You all were joyously giddy at watching all of us Dem voters getting impaled at every turn by your Quasi GOD in the White House........

At this point, it should be alarming to you, that Trump and Republican party is turning against everyone who voted for the Republicans, are now finding themselves thrown under the bus. They have mastered how to control the outcome of elections, regardless of whether you vote ever again.

Hey, you assholes.........YOU GREW IT, YOU CHEW IT.........crunch crunch crunch....

understand that THIS is all planned…

who do you think is going to buy these farms?
private equity

who do you think is going to buy all those dairy’s?
private equity

who do you think is going to buy all those rural hospitals?
private equity

you are now or soon will be slaves to private equity. your water, your food, your medicine, your parks, your recreation, your lakes, your house, your HOA, your streets, your electricity, your ISP…all of it.

Mary Trump details how private prison companies that donated heavily to de facto Pres. Trump, and for whom de facto AG Pam Bondi was a lobbyist, are fueling the demand for more arrests.
