USPS food drive tomorrow, 10 May to aid local food banks. Remember

to set out your contribution of non-perishable goods for your carrier to pick up.The food banks and pantries need all the help they can get.

11. They always need volunteers at the central post offices to manage the donations. The people who are picking up the food

are on the clock and have to keep working/catch up after their vehicles fill up, and it's often on the food shelves -- themselves understaffed -- to manage the donations as they come into the post offices.

Don't get me wrong: The NALC is extremely proud of the work it does for this drive. But it takes a huge effort to get it done, from beyond the NALC.

My mailbox is down a long driveway on a pretty busy road and I always worry the food could be stolen, but there’s nothing I can do about it it.
