(19,831 posts)This bullshit has to stop. A person has the right to protect their family against masked kidnappers. I swear it could come to shooting these bastards in self defense.

(24,057 posts)They have no badges, no uniforms, no identifying insignias, no warrants. When asked, they refuse to identify themselves or if they are from a government agency. They have violently assaulted and disappeared individuals at schools, hospitals, churches, workplaces, homes.
This is a recipe for disaster.

(36,998 posts)I am not particularly worried for myself - my citizenship goes back multiple generations on both sides of the family, and I'm white.
But I am worried about my adopted Afghan nephew and niece and their newborn child. I am worried about my professor's brown son who looks hispanic. I am worried about my high school sweetheart whose gender is not the same as her birthdate, and countless others.
If I, with my privilege, don't start caring and challenging, they will be gone (or, as to my high school sweetheart, confined to the US because her passport will be stripped from her).

(36,998 posts)And those of us with privilege need to be challenging ICE on behalf of those at risk because they lack that privilege.

(36,998 posts)Most people who assert they are not afraid of ICE are doing so from a position of privilege - one in which any fear is unrealistic.
I think fear of a real threat is generally a healthy thing, since it can be used to provide a measure of protection.

(190,837 posts)I’m not saying you don’t. I’m not inferring that from your post.
The message is intimidation. Broadcast so everyone gets the message. Cop cars look like cop cars for a reason - to keep them in people’s mind.
If they come after me, we’re in some serious sh!t.
Mind you, you’ve got DU on your phone. They’ve snatched up phones from scientists traveling and supposedly random people - they found what they were looking for on their phones. If you or I get pulled aside in whatever and they have the ability to search through our phones, DU is bound to be on the crossmatch list. Not over inflating DU nor being paranoid, just presenting a scenario.

(1,758 posts)I wasn't far from the old Slovenian neighborhood. I met (and played music) with Frankie a few times, although he was living in Euclid at the time. He was a well known kleptomaniac actually.
I was from 79th street between St. Clair and Superior. Very, very bad neighborhood when I grew up there, and still is. I was a northwest side Chicagoan.

(65,707 posts)... about the time E 55 gridlocked I got off about five or six blocks from the job. On the way home, by the time it got to the Riverside entrance, traffic was moving.

An old friend used to live in Hinsdale. Nice area.

(1,758 posts)I went to 10th grade high school on Detroit, although the school has now moved. Max S. Hayes. I remember the old Cleveland Trust downtown location. I think it was around the Old Stone Church.
I liked Hinsdale when I would visit my buddy.

(321 posts)Is it a combination of Ice and Erik Prince Mercenaries and who can tell me the truth. How can Alina Habba arrest Mayor. How can A Right Wing FBi arrest a sitting judge. This needs to stop now!

This is really disturbing.
