I am somewhat surprised by this choice of pope. It's given me more hope than I've felt in a long time. Talk about fighting fire with fire.

Right now the USA government RWers are evil bullies which from what I see is turning the world against the USA.
The world is coming together and the USA move closer to isolation.

(431 posts)but, he may have voted in their primary in a "lesser of two evils" type of situation, especially 2016. They said he hasn't voted in anny of the recent general elections.

(6,888 posts)Now we have the talebangelicals, Opus Dei, and social liberation Catholics in the mix. This is a very good development, IMO.
I always felt that the best counterweight to the xtian supremacists would be the true moral religionists, such as James Talerico, and Pope Leo.
May the new pope live a long and productive life.

I know a lot of Catholics and they are all over the place politically. Same when I lived in Salt Lake. Some staunch idealists and a lot of people who belong to the Church because their whole family does.
