Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) took a swing at both political parties Wednesday, arguing they are “largely corrupt” and reflect the interests of billionaires rather than everyday Americans.
In an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” with Bret Baier, Sanders was asked to explain the Democratic Party’s lackluster favorability ratings — and he pointed to the role money plays in politics and government.
“I’ll tell you why. People understand that the political system in this country is largely corrupt, both parties,” Sanders, who caucuses with Senate Democrats, told Baier.
“Why is that? You know the answer. The answer is that you have billionaires in both political parties [who] determine what legislation gets to the floor and who is the candidate,” the Vermont independent continued, referring to the hierarchical nature of legislative floor action and party politics in election cycles.

But vain imaginings and lies,
But some believe that they may truthfully
Forecast the future.
The suns of five years have rolled past,
Since that love-filled month of May
In which I dreamed this dream.
O joyful month, that draws all
Nature to happiness and pleasure;
Bush and tree put on the dress of spring
A dress of leaves that have so long in buds
Reposed, covered from the light of day,
While woods and thickets don their
Splendid coats of green.
The Yelling Populist Pseudo-Socialist Revolution candidate is a dream, the Romance of the Rosey Revolution. Both Sides Corrupt, a vision. Just a dream, not the future. A bad dream.

Pelosi would not allow a bill banning lawmaker stock trading to be heard when she was Speaker.

Democratic oligarchs forced Biden to drop out of the race.
It's unfortunate, but what Bernie said is correct.

(9,027 posts)Nancy Pelosi isn't a billionaire and she did greenlight such a bill (https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/09/congress-moves-towards-banning-members-from-trading-stocks.html), but Democrats ended up losing the House and there were much bigger priorities to get passed during their lame-duck session. And even if you did buy into this right-wing/far left propaganda, one instance doesn't make the rule.
And I don't know if you were paying attention, but those """Democratic oligarchs""" were hand-in-hand in solidarity with Bernie's disciples in wanting Biden to drop out. Also, let's not forget that Biden was opposed by this same unholy alliance in 2020 as well, when we DEMOCRATIC VOTERS rejected both the billionaire candidates and Sanders himself and propelled Biden to the nomination in the first place.
If Sanders thinks both parties is the same and he is still deluded into thinking he would have won on the back of the MAGA bro vote if he were the candidate in 2016, he should go caucus with Republicans and see how receptive they really are to him.

Who else is on the list of Democratic billionaires corrupting everybody? Warren Buffet is retiring. Oh no, list must be very small! Frankly, demonizing the "Democratic establishment" was easier because never had to name names, it just sounded large and scary.
According to the myth, Democratic billionaires have to shower all their money on Democrats to turn them into corrupt Republicans, except they don't turn into Republicans and don't vote for tax cuts for the wealthy, repeal the ACA, defund everything, eliminate the social safety net, ignore climate change, etc. How was the Biden administration same as Trump because the bad horrible billionaire-oligarchs bribed them? Don't they notice it's not working? May as well throw money out the window. Why is it impossible for the wealthy to like Democratic policies? Doesn't make any sense. If they want Republican policies they'd give Republicans money.
