(7,869 posts)I doubt if Trump even knew the theme of this year's Gala, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style".
This is a man with no style. He wears frumpy blue suits, with ridiculously long red ties.
And his words are worse than his looks.
His presence would cheapen the Met Gala.
Truly a vulgar man.

(22,387 posts)And the beautiful people who are guests. The proceeds go to furthering their cause..which I only assume would be fashion oriented. I’m a jeans and t shirt girl myself so it’s not my cup of tea

(906 posts)The no pants year. I’m an old jeans and t shirt woman myself. This year it looked like half the younger women weren’t wearing anything below the waist. What’s up with that anyway? Even when I had it to show, I didn’t. Now I’m just relieved I don’t have to bother!
it sounds to me like a "gag me with a backhoe" kind of fling.............It sounds kinda like watching the Kentucky Derby crowd, with all the UBER rich, entitled trophy wives strutting around in their ugly as all hell bonnets and dresses,, sipping on those mint drinks, and holding the glass with their pinkie extended...

(9,212 posts)I didn't realize it was by invitation... mostly attended by rich/celebrity types, actors, artists, musicians and others who show off their outfits... apparently the designers/brands buy tables/tickets, and then invite people... it's not cheap! 😹
It raises funds for the MMA Costume Institute-

(5,595 posts)they all look so tight in the face, it's like their cheeks are stapled to their ears! I always thought the point to plastic surgery or any kind of "young it up" thing was to make it look natural... at least two of these women look anything but "natural." I may not be much to look at any longer, with wrinkles, saggy skin, and silver hair... but at least it's "natural" (LOL)

(35,184 posts)An African American focused 'theme'. And that theme raised $31M at a time when an autocratic government is stealing from the arts.
I'd say folks can set aside derision for this at a time when Black Americans - myself included - are feeling EXTREMELY hostile to this racist shit hole country without considering whether or not that sick evil old fuck and his prostitution whore wife were invited.

(16,518 posts)They even reference the same TikTok watermark as seen in the OP video, @kiu1384934c
They do say that the new, fake video was made from an older, real video from Voque.
The other references , to the 2017 Corden interview, are accurate.

(11,119 posts)I couldn't find a way to gift the article, but some relevant info from it:
"Can you get a ticket?
Unless you’re a celebrity — no. It’s an invite-only thing. Fashion brands and wealthy people buy all the tables and tickets and then shell out invites to celebrities of their choosing. Wintour will also “match” celebrities to brands."
In her book "Melania and Me" Stephanie Winston Wolkoff implies that Melania Trump started getting friendly with her when she found out the Wolkoff - who worked for Anna Wintour - was largely in charge of the Met Gala and thus could advance Ms Trump's status in New York society. The Trumps, though, were seen as cheapskates who wouldn't contribute more than the minimum amount, and didn't bring much in the way of celebrity, flair, or glamor to the event.

(4,221 posts)I'm usually pretty good at identifying AI images, not so much with videos. It was well done, and very believable. But after looking at the video in this Vogue article from a few years ago, I see that I was wrong. (I had sent it to a few people) Color me Embarrassed for being fooled! Now I am seeing that it is being identified on X as AI altered (I didn't see that before, so must have been added after I re-posted) It is even on the original OP link now.
