Lose the most money in the U.S. market unfortunately. Ford loses about $40,000 for each EV they sell for instance. A start up company definitely won’t make it unless someone spends billions to get it off the ground with no guarantee of a profit but a great chance at bankruptcy.

Businesses invest in new technology (i.e. EVs) because the old technology is going away.

Kodak is a prime example - they invented digital photography, but refused to give up on film. That refusal to invest in new technology pretty much killed the company.

The US auto industry is already being eclipsed on EVs globally. The switch to EVs is already happening and it's accelerating. If Ford doesn't invest in EVs now, they don't survive.

You don't take pre-orders for a model year that has already passed. (The website also describes what they expect to be in the 2024 model.)

This is not reusing older models. Every model year gets a new release, even if it is using essentially the same design as the prior year. The website is a website that hasn't been updated since 2022, or 2023, at the latest.

He may have had a great plan, but it never materialized . . . Or at least not yet. Just like Elio Motors.

So that it recharges batteries almost as fast as they discharge--they discharge to drive the wheels, and apparently using that energy to actually move the car it drives a generator.

Nearly free electricity.

But wait! There's more!

There's also a "fuel to electricity" recharge system. For more of that carbon-free, nearly free energy.

I'm still waiting (more than a decade) to buy my Elio. Finally gave up and bought a Toyota Prius.

But hope springs eternal - maybe now I can start waiting for an Electa . . . I hear they (Derek Baileys company) are taking pre-orders for the 2023 model.
