(2,549 posts)I went 100% treasuries when I was preparing for retirement in 2023 on my TSP account. I didn’t want to take gambles on the stock market at that point and with Numbnutz Krasnov driving the market into the shitter, I’m comfortable with my decision.

(11,706 posts)The farmers are just beginning to get royally freaked out........Major FAFO............none of them wondering deep down why they voted for Trump and all the other RepubliCON Politicians that promoted Trump and enabled him to carry out this Tragedy......
The RepubliCONS in the House and Senate, as well as the USSC members are so ignorant, they don't realize there is no need for a Legislative Branch or Judicial Branch in a tyranny, and they ALL will be kicked to the curb shortly, like everyone else in Trump world, his ENTIRE life............All of them should have noticed that his voters have all been thrown under the bus already....they have fulfilled their usefulness this one last time for electing Trump again.......They are no longer needed by the Republican Party......and just starting to figure it out.............All Rural Red Trumphumping Farmers are totally freaking out today..........and they should be.........
Cirsium
(2,275 posts)Farmers are not a significant voting bloc and are no more or less likely to vote Republican than any other group of business owners. I every farmers started voting Democratic it wouldn't change the results of elections, even in rural districts. Here, in a very conservative farming area there are about 300 growers - farm owners - and 40-45% of them vote Democratic. Yet Trump got over 10,000 votes here.
It is the eaters that will suffer when farms are hurt and Trump will bail out the big farm owners, especially the large grain operations, the cattle ranchers, and the meat packing industry.
Trump and the Republicans are expert at invoking rugged individualist imagery, Hollywood stereotypes that resonate with people - cowboys, ranchers, farmers, miners, lumberjacks; Reagan on horseback, Bush with his fake ranch, Trump with his he-man collectibles. But we shouldn't buy into that propaganda and think that those represent significant voting blocs. They represent Walter Mitty fantasy voting blocs.
Trump makes people think they are somehow associated with heroic stereotypes when they go with him. It is all a bunch of nonsense.

Little Marco fuck-face tells me I'm supposed to be happy. This is for the good of the country. I flation is now good. Recession is now good.
I got on a fb page of a friend with 350 friends, several whom I know to be wingnuts and with TSPs. I said that those who'd voted for Trump had created this debacle. Now FIX IT!
Nobody responded.

(15,741 posts)That's the whole plan. Rocking the markets benefits the wealthy who have cash on hand. Screws ordinary people who live paycheck to paycheck.

It would be useless to apply pressure to my GOP legislators. They are so far up the Trump backside, they see with orange eyeballs. And the thought of a democrat being elected around here is about as likely as the manufacturing on Heard Island to kick into high gear. But surely some swingier districts must be feeling the heat.

(24,953 posts)The change in investment strategy is obvious. I still lost 3% of my retirement funding overnight. Single digit loss may not seem like much to some folks, but in one day? Yes. This is a bloodbath.
I have been desperately trying to get my house market ready to sell so I can flee Florida. I think I've lost the window and there is no way I am going to be able to relocate to Virginia before everything crashes. Call me Chicken Little, but I don't see a good end in sight here. No reason to believe the administrations mismanagement (stupidity and cruelty) is going to abate any time soon.
