The blackout date is Feb 28th. ð
If possible, boycott any business that participated in DEI rollbacks.

(13,003 posts)I go to Amazon to find the product and brand I want to buy. Then I google that exact item/brand.
In almost every case, you can find that exact item/brand somewhere other than Amazon for a lower price and also free shipping.
Recently, I found a well known brand and model of a ladder I wanted to buy. On Amazon the ladder was 125 bucks, on another website I found it for 75 dollars, with paid shipping! AND, it promised a delivery date, only one day longer than Amazon...........
Amazon has trained everyone well ,to go to them, and not look elsewhere, and they have jacked their prices considerably.......many items with much longer than their normal past shipping dates........
Try it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(3,378 posts)Weve increased Costco shopping although with 2 of us its sometimes hard to deal with the giant sizes.
Im trying to do as little on Amazon as possible and Im doing pretty well. Ive not eliminated Prime because of the video accessibility, but every time I find they want to charge me anyway I get closer to cutting the cord.
Google is another I need alternatives for. The search engine isnt too hard to dub out. My email will be a bear.

(6,987 posts)Just as good a search engine but it bars trackers by default, doesnt log your searches, and is a much cleaner nicer experience over all.
I deleted Apple Maps after they licked the jackboots and renamed the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. Appalling.😡

Though i am somewhat locked into the Googlesphere, I can take some action. Since my phone is Samsung I can swap out Google features if Samsung has a viable alternative. Maybe since I have time on my hands... I could degooglefy my phone.

(29,175 posts)NEW YORK The daughters of one of the cofounders of Target are expressing their alarm and shock at the discounter's recent moves to roll back its diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that have come under attack from conservative activists and of last month, the White House.
In letters to the editor published Thursday in The Financial Times and the Los Angeles Times, Anne and Lucy Dayton said their father, Bruce Dayton, along with his four other brothers, expanded the Minneapolis department store into a massive brand that became Target that was built on two principles: a focus on the customer and the well-being of the community.
Bruce Dayton died in 2015 at 97.
We are alarmed how quickly the business community has given in to the current administrations retaliatory threats," the daughters wrote. It is not illegal for a company to create a business model based on what it believes to be important ethical and business standards.
They added that, By cowering, Target and others are undermining the very principles that have made their companies a success.
Target couldnt be immediately reached for comment.
Side note, Bruce Dayton was also Mark Dayton's father; Anne and Lucy are his sisters.

Dear Mr. Cornell,
I am writing to express my dismay with Targets elimination of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies. As a long-time customer and advocate for inclusive business practices, this change in your policy requires my change in choosing where to shop. It will not be at Target.
I am but one small customer but half our country did not vote for, nor supports, the current White House administration. The only thing we can do is choose to shop elsewhere. Maybe enough of us will impact your bottom line, and bring about shareholder discontent. That might be the only way you listen to all people.
Respectfully,

(13,003 posts)The Walmart heirs have turned their attention to other highly profitable businesses.
Most people, even here in Denver, don't know that the Waltons have bought almost every single National sports Denver Team, as well as other pro teams in the U.S.
They now own, The Denver Broncos, The Denver Nuggets, The Colorado Avalanche, our national soccer or lacrosse team...
They probably won't buy the Colorado Rockies because they will probably not ever be profitable, being in a "High Altitude" city.....

(5,916 posts)They had a significant earnings miss and cut forecasts as well, and were loaded with hard to move inventory.
This - including the 22% stock drop - was well before they announced their ending DEI programs.
I know we'd love to see them getting cooked for bending the knee, that's not what's happening here.

Let this be a lesson to corporations, newsflash, everyone is not an able bodied straight white male. Everyone deserves a chance.
Why would I shop at a place who doesn't see my value?

(120 posts)I was under the impression that the blackout is NOT targeting companies that have removed DEI. That is too difficult for the everyday consumer. The blackout is targeting ALL shopping for those 24 hours-to show corporations and show ourselves the power we really have as consumers.
Make it easy-NO SHOPPING ON FEBRUARY 28TH FROM 12 AM UNTIL 11:59 PM.
