america will pay a price for this the crime minister's tariff tantrum
short term, there *may* be some concessions from other countries, most likely in exchange for bigger concessions from america, and in any event, nowhere near worth the damage to businesses and consumers the tariff war will cause.
but long term, our trading partners will look for more reliable counterparties, strengthening ties with each other and probably our adversaries like china. businesses like predictability and stability, and the crime minister's tariff tantrum is the complete opposite of that, creating random uncertainty for no good reason, certainly no reason that benefits trade.
plus, they'll negotiate harder with us next time. they'll want to tie our hands to prevent this kind of disruption.
we'll pay a price during the tariff war, we'll pay a price when he has to concede something to get out of his own mess, and we'll pay a price long term when future deals happen without us and/or less favorably with us.
all because he's a *terrible* negotiator.
art of the completely fucked up deal, he is.
