Red State Kentucky... Bourbon facing 50% tax imposed by EU starting in March, Thanks to Trump

'We're trying to sound the alarm' | Kentucky bourbon industry worries as potential 50% EU-imposed tariffs loom

CINCINNATI — Kentucky's key bourbon industry finds itself staring down the barrel of potential new, EU-imposed tariffs come March, thanks to an ongoing trade war between the United States and the European Union.

….. “We saw tens — if not hundreds — of millions of millions of dollars of impact on exports that the bourbon industry is just recovering from," Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said during a Jan. 16 press conference. "A state, again, that voted for Trump by 30 points will get hit incredibly hard."

Their hatred of people of colot & their paralyzing fear of women, esp professionals, has brought this pox upon the world.

How long can R's deny their inner deamons?

Will R's ever see the light? Boggles my mind how anyone who works for a living could even consider voting R.

best bourbon, I guess with all of American made liquor not selling cause the price will be too high, us Americans will have more than enough to stay drunk.

Seriously, sounds like the world is turning against us.

Tarrifs imposed by eu DUE TO TRUMP'S ACTIONS

Everything needs to give him the credit he deserves. Most don't read past the headline anyway.

even more hell to pay for drinkers. I said that during COVID the anger about closing bars and restaurants was more about closeted alcoholics and druggers not being able to get their regular fixes than about "being denied their freedoms."

The Wall Street Journal had a story on the bourbon glut just a few weeks ago. Destroying the export market for a product that is already in overproduction is not too bright. That said, you'll probably be able to get more discount bottle of Blanton's and Weller's now. They have to empty those barrels in the warehouses at some point.

A lot of the small producers and late market entrants will fail, probably before the end of the year.

You're also going to see big failures of craft beer as canning costs go up and California wine, which does rely on Canadian markets to make up a good percentage of their income.

That's if the tariffs stay on.
