BILLIONAIRES LOVE ECONOMIC CRASHES !!!
Thom Hartmann makes sense here, TFG can't deliver the tax cuts he for billionaires so crash the economy so the broligarchy can pick up assets for nothing.
He doesn't give a damn about GQP or MAGA he just wants the grift to continue, the rest will be mostly distractions including their overt bigotry and breaking the law and constitution.
Sit in safe assets and lower spending, I foresee things getting ruff ...

(92,231 posts)... notion and some on M$M.
FAUX News was trying to prime people for higher cost and even Jamie Diamond came out on video and said "get over it" in response to a question about higher prices.
These people are assholes, we see what they about to do

(3,992 posts)My life savings is from my government 401(k) - They call it TSP. I can move it around to different stock market funds, or have it in an interest only safe account. I've been too (either stupid or chicken), and have kept it in the safe spot for the past several years. When I first retired, I did try to benefit from the stock market, but by the time my loss was 30K, that was it for me and I put it back in the safe place. Murphys law, ever since then stock market has gone up and up and up. Of course now, there is no way I would put it in the stock market with TSF in office.
But what if they try to steal all that money? There is a shit-ton of money in the TSP, if TSF knows about it I'm sure he probably is drooling over it.
I'm thinking I should pull it all out and put in my bank.
But then I've been reading that he is going to fuck around with the FDIC.
I really don't know what a 'safe' place for savings is. Do we still trust CDs and stuff like that? I do have someone I can cal for advice.
It is all the money I have in the world, and am not earning any more (SS and modest pension is getting me by for now), but this money I'm basically saving for an emergency.
I'm scared. Not thinking clearly.

(92,231 posts)... its a head fake like the government spending freeze was we know what's coming.
I'd rather ride out with a 3 - 5% increase than a 10% drop, Hartmann is correct; each GQP government has had mondo crashes in equities and assets since I've been voting.

(2,863 posts)I'm looking into these to protect some of my assets. I'm no financial expert and don't know anything about ETFs, fair warning. I'm nearing retirement.
I don't think I want to live in an oligarchy. I don't have as much time left in my life's timeline. What time I still have, I don't want to live in Pottersville. Looking into the abyss of insane republicans.
Replying to you to scream: Each GQP government has had mondo crashes in equities and assets since I've been voting.
I still hate George W. Asshat. We nearly lost our banking system twice due to that Bush crime family: Savings and Loan. 2008-2009. Privatize the profits, socialize the risks. Assholes.

(2,863 posts)Read this whole thing from the Denver Post (link and excerpts below).
If you wish, google for more, because there's plenty more than just this. Riggs Bank, dead bodies in parks in D.C., and Bush Sr. brother's involvement (Jonathan Bush) with this bank. And foreign nationals just for some more fuckery.
Somehow the elder Prescott Bush helped funnel money to fascists in Germany back in the 1930s. I have a forever beef with fascists (AKA Republicans) and Nazis (Elon Musk threw 2 Nazi salutes behind the presidential seal)
Real estate crash, oil crisis, Banking system failure, billions go poof.
Bush Crime Family. Republican patterns of grift.
All repeated with that asshole GWB circa 2009.
https://www.denverpost.com/2008/09/29/silverado-collapse-cost-taxpayers-1-billion/
The son of then-President George H.W. Bush and a brother of the current president, Neil Bush was on Silverados board of directors. Silverado made loans to developers who owned shares in the thrift and who had bankrolled Neil Bushs oil company.
In what was considered a largely symbolic ruling, Neil Bush was barred by an administrative judge from having conflicts of interest at a savings and loan again.

(179 posts)All the money I have in the world is in a FDIC insured bank account. Taking it out and bringing it home presents all kinds of risks. Im hardly well off but I can afford to fix or replace whatever breaks. I hoped this money would last the rest of my life. If you figure it out, let me know.

(26,001 posts)Thom believes that Trump and his billionaire friends are running the same platform that David Koch ran back when he ran as a Libertarian.
Koch wanted all government dismantled except for the military, the police and courts so that dissenters can be arrested and jailed.
Thom also mentioned that Trump is dismantling government by breaking numerous laws.
A point I made a couple days ago when people opined that nothing could be done to stop his EO's. When his EO breaks the law something needs to be done immediately.
I guess Jeffries held a meeting and told his members to raise hell and seek out microphones. I still believe that holding town halls would be better, or do both.
