Dropping out of the doctorate program, as her's is a 5-year program and she's just finishing year two. She has 4 years of research work, but research work doesn't count in the job field. The point of a PhD is to conduct original research and contribute to scientific knowledge.
If society doesn't want to pay for it, there will be no research.
There is no need for PhDs.
