Georgia (USA) has my boiling envy for at least the next two years, and I hope much longer

I met again with your Senator, Jon Ossoff, this evening in Washington. In the little time we had, we discussed the political situation in GB, D and F, how the extreme left is the best friend of the extreme right, the Middle East, our foreign service, the Canadian Foreign service, the domestic situation in the USA, election fraud, his re-election chances, which Senators I most admired, and I reminded him flat out that I considered him to be the smartest person in the Senate.

We are both well aware that his election occurred at perhaps the only moment in the last 20 years when a Democrat had any chance all of being elected to the Senate from Georgia.

He is not only intelligent, he is aware, caring, realistic and dedicated to both serving and learning. I wish Texas could produce, nominate and elect a Senator like Jon Ossoff. Hell, I wish most States could do that. The fact that he faces a difficult, steeply uphill re-election fight speaks volumes about both Georgia and the country. In a just world, he'd be so far up in the polls that the opposition wouldn't even bother running a candidate to oppose him. There is no better way to remind me how unjust our world is.

Up until this evening, I considered Jon a man I was fortunate enough to have as an acquaintance. After we parted, I consider myself fortunate to have him as a friend. Georgia can consider itself fortunate to have him as a Senator, and the USA can consider itself fortunate, especially since November, to say that we (still) have someone like him in our government. We need more--a LOT more.

Every one of Trump's nominees could pack their bags and go home, because they wouldn't get double digits of confirmation votes.

In that brief, miraculous time, we also elected the wonderful Senator Raphael Warnock. I wish I could be optimistic about their chances of reelection.
