Most Americans have had the luxury of tuning out politics the past 4 years because we've had a President who quietly did his job instead of tweeting and trying to dominate every news cycle with trolling.
They've blissfully ignored the news and decided last November that it didn't matter who won the election. That Trump wasn't that bad and we'd be fine either way.
With the Biden-Harris administration we didn't have to think about what the White House was up to every day. In a crisis like the recent LA wildfires, we knew the federal government would be there and that Biden would do the right thing.
People take that for granted. A functioning government. And I think they're going to miss it when it's gone.
They may never admit it. But Trump's daily chaos is going to annoy them too.
People are about to find out there's a big difference in how Democrats and Republicans govern. And that it actually does matter who the President of the United States is.

(25,684 posts)that our government next week will be an oligarchy, run by billionaires.
Thom Hartmann said it yesterday, oligarchies are not permanent, they are transitional. In the future our country will have to decide if we want to throw out the billionaires or become a country like Russia or Hungary.
Thom had a great segment yesterday when he compared the fall of the Roman Empire with the fall of democracy in the United States.
The billionaires convinced the unwashed that government is corrupt and stagnant and that they needed a strong man to return to glory; Caesar crossed the Rubicon and Trump crossed the Rubicon to save the day.
