"Despair is not an option"

I have been seeing many posts regarding the anxiety we are feeling because of the upcoming inauguration of TSF. These posts are well warranted and I admit my fear as well. We are just people who are responding to an impending doom that we truly feel viscerally as well as emotionally. We are trapped in an inescapable nightmare that our neighbors, relatives and fellow citizens have created. As my late brother would say "dude".
Many have also said that D.U. is here so we may help each other through this time of despair. This is the absolute truth. By leaning on one another we create, maintain and nourish a community in which we are comforted and can comfort others. Some days I feel weak and vulnerable while other days I feel strong and feisty. As a 57 year old man, it is remarkable that after the political environments I have lived through, I have any feelings at all. Yet I do.
On days in which we are weak, reach out to us here at D.U. and perhaps we can help. On days we are strong, reach out to D.U. members and help talk them off the ledge. We can get through this and we will do it together "The people united can never be defeated"!
Only our thirst for freedom gives us hunger for justice. I borrowed a bit from Neil Peart there but one thing that has given me strength is the band Rush. Perhaps we can all find strength from our favorite bands and prolific writers.
Peace to all.

Dispair certainly is an option. Dispair is not a strategy. It's also not a hairnet. marble falls 12 hrs ago #6

with this monster's cabinet picks, they will surely destroy the govt from within AND they will loot the treasure (per Sheldon Whitehouse). They will relax and/or remove environmental restrictions. They will isolate us from the rest of the world. I am embarrassed and depressed. What have I missed?

What you have missed is the fact that you still care. You care about your nation, and your neighbor in face of the impending doom. This shows your resilience and willingness to engage with us as we get through it together. Vent your anger frustration and feelings. I will listen and try to help and I just know you will do the same.

is what I feel as well. I don't post here very often, but I find comfort reading what you all write here. I certainly understand the difficulties in remaining strong and I know I will have many weak days going forward.
I am trying to keep myself busy and not dwelling on the darkness I fear is coming. I volunteer at the Humane Society one day a week and that certainly helps. I have 3 cats at home too. I read a lot but am staying away from most media such as CNN, and the like. I don't have many people I can express my feelings-a few family members and friends who feel the same. I will find ways to resist as time goes on. I hope I can be of assistance to others when needed.
