AlterNet: 'He's mad': GOP reps say ousted intel chair now 'never going to vote' for Johnson's bills

AlterNet - 'He’s mad': GOP reps say ousted intel chair now 'never going to vote' for Johnson’s bills

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is in hot water with a significant portion of the House Republican Conference over his decision to remove the chairman of a high-profile committee.

On Thursday, Johnson announced that Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) would not be chairman of the House Intelligence Committee in the 119th Congress, instead choosing Rep. Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) as his replacement. Now, some Republican lawmakers are telling Fox News that Turner is rebelling against the speaker, and that Johnson may not be able to count on his vote for future legislation — which could be a significant complication given Republicans' razor-thin House majority.

"He dragged Mike along," one unnamed "senior House Republican" told Fox News congressional correspondent Chad Pergram. "It wasn't a fair process."

“(Johnson) cost himself some political capital,” another Republican confided to Pergram.

“Mike’s never going to vote for another f—ing thing around here again,” a GOP lawmaker said anonymously. “He’s mad.”

Having various temperature tantrums. I for one am tired of their childishness. Break up the Congress, even those we thought dem champions have been looking out for themselves only. Kill the courts. You can't have law without justice and there is no justice in this country. Turn it all back to their beloved 1800s. Where we can kill them as easily as they kill us. Without law.. they want to take our country and Rob us blind. I say we don't let them. Make it more expensive to try than they ever dreamed. Asymmetrical warfare.

is my observation. That Virginia Foxx is the one way off her rocker. Most interesting person.

If Thune wasn't one of the July 4th rendezvous (I don't know) he has seemed more levelheaded or am I wrong? Someone with the ability to think things through and more loyal to America than the other choices. Intelligence committee is an important one. I don't really know much about the Rules committee.

Mike Johnson has to be careful. His desire to appease Trump could put his leadership at risk.
I'd love to see Republican floor fights, and fractionalization of their super thin majority. This could make it hard to implement the financial part of project 2025.
Unfortunately, they have a sure majority in the Senate, so Trump gets his cabinet of clowns, and can put all sort of jackasses on the Courts.

Mike went to Ohio Northern University where I went and graduated in 1982. I was a year behind him and in the engineering college, so I did not have much interaction with him. He was a poly sci major.

I think he went to UD for his law degree and graduated in 85. My Dad was a professor at ONU, but did not recall Turner as a student.

“Our intelligence community and its oversight must maintain the highest levels of trust. The House Intel Committee will play a pivotal role in this work in the new Congress, and Rick Crawford will provide principled leadership as its chairman," he continued. "He has earned the respect of his colleagues through his years of faithful service on the committee and his steady approach to the challenges facing our country."

Apparently, in the eyes of Mike Johnson, Mike Turner cannot maintain trust, is disrespected by his collegues, and is otherwise unsteady.

For his district.
Just wondering if some other members of the house will rebel from Trump/elon dictats. Will they have issues in the senate or will they all be spineless.
