(18,194 posts)Try 60% inflation on iPhones, Xboxes, TVs, Laptops, and everything at the dollar store.
I expect the tech oligarchs will put the kibosh on Trumps China tariffs for that reason.

(18,194 posts)Even the Rubes will balk at paying hundreds more for smart phones, TVs, and laptops.
Thats why I think the oligarchs will talk Trump out of his tariffs.

(54,115 posts)The fantasy that there might have been even an indictable crime against Hillary involving mishandling of classified information was of epic importance in 2016.
Once Donnie got convicted of 34 felonies, caught stealing classified information, and had other legal problems like rape and fraud, suddenly they didn't care about presidential candidates committing crimes.
If there's inflation under Donnie, they'll say it doesn't matter. They'll find some other topic to be outraged over, most likely involving bigotry of some form.

(98 posts)Gas prices may go up between now and January just so they can come back down after January 20 so Trump can get some credit right off for lowering gas prices. Just has the GOP corporate cult raised and gouged prices under the Biden administration, they will lower the prices under Trump. That will be a good thing for working families with children and others so I really won't be angry about that. I'm just angry knowing that this could have been done while Biden was President during his last year.
There are, however, some things that no administration will have control over and anyone of those events like a natural disaster, enemy attacks against our government and our citizens etc, could interfere with the smooth sailing course the Trumpers envision having. But as I said elsewhere, they really need to be careful about pulling employment rug from under a lot of Federal employees willy-nilly. Unless these employees have enjoyed the benefits of huge profits from the record high stock market under Biden, what the Trump administration proposes to do will have hardship ramifications on a lot of people.

(33,957 posts)I save and return the cartons.
I drive below the speed limit and save on gas.
I buy all of my cloths, except socks and underwear, at yard sales.
I buy the fruit thats on sale or frozen. Berries were high yesterday, but bananas were on sale for 25 cents a pound.
I turn down the heat and put on more cloths.
Its a lifestyle for me and I have fun doing it.

(959 posts)Andy Groff, the senior director of pricing, admitted in an email that the company raised egg prices "significantly higher than the cost of inflation," essentially acknowledging that Kroger increased egg prices beyond what was necessary to account for rising costs. This revelation came during a court hearing regarding Kroger's proposed merger with Albertsons, where the FTC is scrutinizing potential price gouging concerns.

(2,412 posts)Heck, here in Florida, you can't even find a Republican who complains about home owner's insurance being three times any other State and the simple reason is its because the Republicans that control the Florida legislature are 100% responsible and they can't realistically blame anyone else. So, we get fleeced and they sit silent for the most part.

Like the above, if you have family that remembers what their parents taught them from the depression era, soak that up and be ready to do the 21st century version of those actions/plans.
