Since the night of the election, my mind keeps going back to an Old Testament story.

Isaac, son of Abraham, had two sons: Esau was the eldest and the inheritor, and Jacob, his younger brother. Esau came in starving from (I think) a hunting trip and told Jacob that he could have his inheritance for a bowl of porridge. Jacob doubted this, so he had him sign an irrevocable agreement to that effect, and Esau got his porridge.

In my view, this tremendous American experiment, born through the sacrifices, courage, and hard work of so many,' given to us through the genius of the Founding Fathers (and Mothers); carried on the backs of African slaves and immigrants; surviving wars and the Great Depression; and still the hope of the world, was just sold by the American people to an aspiring dictator who would hopefully lower the price of eggs.
