So to be an effective Democrat I need to learn how to "message"

with working class people who think the following:

- Its no big deal for a man to say he gets to "grab women by the pussy" because he's a star
- The price of eggs is a more urgent concern than LGBTQ rights
- 34 felony convictions should not be an impediment to running for the presidency
- Women deserve to be punished for having abortions
- Immigrants should be thrown out of the country
- White men deserve priority over women and minorities
- Staging a coup to overthrow the American government is no big deal

Yeah, right.

No can do.

And can I please get back to the other timeline?

Just from your title my eyes rolled all the way back up into my head LOL...

I'm glad I'm not listening to any news or anything I'm just reading here because I'd be throwing shit at the TV. I'm utterly disgusted with not only 50% of America but the media, politicians, everything...🤬😡

I've got no more patience for these fucking GAMES... people's lives are on the line! I had a friend actually say to me this morning something about differences of opinion, it's a good thing that it was over text because I would have smacked her in the face. However I did make it abundantly clear that anybody who thinks that it's just a "difference of opinion" can get the FUCK out of my life.... 🤬

talking about Democrats and messaging and it just made me want to hurl.

It is not the job of sane, educated, normal people with ethical standards to sink to the level of people who can't be bothered to tune in to politics enough to make a reasonable choice. These are the people we're fighting and they won't be won over by rational discussion.

My messages on twitter must have been pretty good.
A lot of MAGA including Musk didn't like them.
Then something weird happened
Each tweet I made only got 1 read or so.
They censured my messages by not letting them be read.
I was never disciplined for breaking any rules.
It took a while for me to catch on. My followers stopped growing.
When I started telling people about it, they opened it up a little.
So I deleted my account.

I tried every day to help until they basically took me out.

More and more people have turned to social media to get their news over the recent years.
The right wing controls that.
Many Americans never got the truth.
I think that was a big factor in what happened.
A lot of Americans don't know what we know about Trump.

At least he is not bombarding me with the messaging nonsense.
The message was there if they wanted to see it. They didn’t want it.

I would like to ask people that voted for trump if they would hire him for anything? ( The ones we didn’t message right to that caused them to vote for trump)

Would you hire him as a handyman?
Would you hire him as your landscaper, knowing how much he fucked up your grass the last time?
After running a background check, would you hire a convicted felon?

The answer is probably No.
But you hire him to run your life and everyone else’s.

This election was a mirror held up to America and we learned that Americans are some lazy, sloppy, ignorant, racist, misogynists, cruel, selfish, resentful people. The truth of this election is that in order for a Democrat to win we have to abandon our principles and join the bullies. It takes ugly to win.
Very few want to face that fact so we will continue to go in circles to avoid the truth about what this country has become.

This whole "we didn't talk to working class voters" is infuriating to hear. She offered a philosophy of finding ways to help people do better than "just getting by," supported by actual, concrete policies to help them do so. She acknowledged the high prices and her proposed solutions. She offered real ideas for small businesses, health care, child care, and homeownership. And she repeated those messages every time she had the opportunity - at rallies, at interviews, at the debate.

He offered not a single policy - vague threats of tariffs and deportations (which of course now will happen) without any real understanding of the downstream effects - surrounded by hate, bigotry, racism, misogyny, and nonsensical rambling.

I'm with you - if his message is the winning message, then his win is what the electorate deserves. It's tragic that so many people who knew better will suffer despite their best efforts.

Implicit in the idea of "a republic, if you can keep it" is that we actually have to do the work to keep our government functional. We as voters have to educate ourselves on the candidates - who they are, what they stand for, and what they intend to do. And I don't mean just going to social media or to our echo chambers. We know that "the news" isn't always objective, so we have to seek out varied sources. We have to gather the information, and we have to think about which policies would not only make our own lives better, but maintain or improve the prosperity and security and opportunity offered by our country as a whole. We have to accept that we all have differing opinions on how those goals will be accomplished, so our representatives are going to make compromises sometimes - but most of the time, the policies supported by the majority should likely prevail. We have to understand what each branch of government can do, and where their power is limited, and not just change parties every election cycle because "nothing changed."

In addition to the racism and misogyny and flat-out laziness that define too much of the American electorate, most Americans are not willing to do even a few of the things above, and unfortunately our republic is paying the price.

Women need to be punished because they are pregnant.
Women need to be punished because they can't get pregnant.
Women need to be punished because they are single.
Women need to be punished just for living.(This one is applies to almost all religions.)
