It's the economy, stupid

Headline:

"Shattered Democrats grapple with Harris loss"

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/shattered-democrats-grapple-kamala-harris-loss-rcna178967

Democrats called for a full party reckoning on Wednesday, as they attempted to pick up the pieces of their shattered organization a day after Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss to former President Donald Trump.

The Harris campaign was running on democracy and abortion...they couldn't fix the price of gas and groceries or the border issue.

And, Kamala is a brown-skin woman.

In my humble opinion, that's why she lost...

I am guessing that when this is sorted out there are multiple factors involved.

Too many simplistic and reductive narratives everywhere. It isn’t any one thing. It is the hardest problem imaginable to herd cats in a democracy battling multiple stresses (economic inequality, ecological crises on multiple fronts, weaponised misinfo, covid and so much more), .

I do think Trump is going to stress test American and possibly global (the spiralling effects of a Trump era) democracy.

A white woman would have lost, too. You think a white woman would have won? Look what happened to Hillary.

And Kamala ran on the economy, too. Just face it, a good number of the American public are dumb and stupid.

"A white woman would have lost, too. You think a white woman would have won? Look what happened to Hillary."

I'll quote my Son: "I don't think this election was winnable, at least not by a decent human being."

In hindsight, he's right. I just mentioned gender and race because some stupid and racist people would never vote for a woman and would never vote for a non-white of either gender.

"And Kamala ran on the economy, too. Just face it, a good number of the American public are dumb and stupid."

She talked about the economy but couldn't overcome the propaganda about the economy.

Quoting my Son again: "I think most voters are too f'n hateful and stupid."

That sums up MAGA pretty well.

Please, please, nominate a middle aged white male. It shouldn't have to be this way, but it is. We've lost twice running women. The country just isn't there yet.

Damn I hate saying that, but really, another reason why I wish Biden was twenty years younger at his physical best. He carried the hell out of those rust belt states. He was a PA guy, too.

Hopefully a straight white middle aged man with working class roots from a swing state.

Forcing middle and low income families to bring children into the world that they can't afford because the repug Nazis have outlawed birth control is a financially ruinous economic issue. Husbands having to raise young children alone, on only 1 income because their wives died from a miscarriage because they couldn't get the medical help they needed because the repug Nazis value dead fetuses more than living breathing women is an economic issue. The Nazis are going to send women back to my grandmother's time. My grandmother used tree bark multiple times to end unwanted pregnancies because she and my grandfather already had 3 children and couldn't afford any more. She was one of the lucky ones who didn't die. Many women died.
It's time for American men to figure out that abortion/birth control bans hurt them along with women. They also need to understand that women are half the population and are demanding a seat at the power table and will continue to do so.

This and other issues to get people's butts on the couches.

Much easier to get them to do this than vote.

Literally, NOGOTV

We underestimated the power of social media this election and ultimately wasted 100's of millions on GOTV and unnecessary ads

People are just mad and frustrated with the spike in prices. They took it out on the party in the White House.

It's really no more complicated than that.

Next time you're out grocery shopping, make a casual comment to a shopper near you about how expensive things are. You'll get quick agreement.

Nobody is going to tell a pollster or a journalist that they voted for the Combover Caligula because they are sexist, racist, xenophobic assholes. They just aren't. The truth, though, is the Trump Make America Great Again flags, shirts, and caps are the modern era's version of the KKK hoods and robes of yore.

Same difference.

Fear and ignorance is not confined to any economic class. There are plenty of billionaires who live in fear.
