Update to this OP:
Biden has Super Powers and Immunity.... This in my opinion is a National Security Issue...Essentially an attack on America ....
This election/voting counting just didn't go " naturally"...in my opinion.
We really need to demand a National recount.... Hand-visual recount....
Who here supports this demand and if so, how do we have the Democratic Party to proceed?

(120,601 posts)Recounts are regulated and conducted by the states. In some states a recount is automatic if the margin between two candidates is less than a certain amount; in other states the candidate has to request one.

(13,587 posts)I think we were under attack....this maybe the approach for National Security...etc...

(22 posts)...only the states that look like something could be askew. Some states performed consistent with trends and statistical believability.

(28,833 posts)As we should all know by now, election issues are administered by the states. It's unlikely any states are going to end up close enough to warrant a recount.

(18,656 posts)Thats the best path to go.

(44,458 posts)A voter can't just demand that the governor order a recount. There are specific rules governing when a recount can be held, who can ask for one, who pays for it, etc.
So your 'best path' is really no path at all.

There are usually mechanisms for candidates to seek a recount, but I'm a little vague on whether a coalition of voters would have standing to sue for a recount or some such on general grounds (and if they could, they would probably have to pay for it.) Groups who have a case that they were wrongfully disenfranchised certainly have standing to bring a case to remedy the wrong, but that typically addresses some subset of ballots/issues.
It seems there is little will within the party to take a hard look, but perhaps it is there. I for once certainly hope that as county canvasses are completed, individuals or organizations from within or outside look for red flags and take steps to ensure ballots have not been improperly rejected or that provisional ballots have been properly counted, and . . . I don't know what else needs looking at.

(18,324 posts)Except for a few close races where the margin is under .5%, there wont be any recounts.
No recounts at all in the presidential race, since Harris has conceded.

(18,324 posts)Any orders Biden might give would have to be carried out by dozens, if not hundreds of people who are not immune from prosecution.

(27,599 posts)Becoming such a common misconception of what SCOTUS said.
The only thing to add is that it would be tens of thousands of people- and most of them just voted for the other guy. And (as mentioned above), state law controls, so even liberal secretaries of state would reject the order.

(25,323 posts)"Superpowers" but unless you can convince him of that I'm pretty sure that you're on your own here.
Nice gesture though.

(2,157 posts)Some states will automatically do it if the margin is under 0.5% or less. None of the states are within that margin right now.

(44,458 posts)They are handled state by state.
And the fact that you don't think the election went "naturally" but offer absolutely no indication of what causes you to think that other than the fact that we lost isn't grounds for a recount of any state's elections at this point.
I swear I'm beginning to think some of these posts were cribbed from things written by Rudy Giuliani four years ago.

(13,587 posts)find this election to be smelling very fishy.... Realistic concerns of russian interface...an attack one might call it on a free and fair election....Investigate and recount.
You may want to just roll over...go ahead but do not attack me.

(44,458 posts)There is no more "realistic" evidence of vote fraud in this election than in the last one and the claims of fraud in the last one cost folks a lot of money in damages and in lost jobs.

(10,501 posts)And Kamala's campaign staff have thrown in the towel, and she has conceded, so that's proof enough for me that either don't think there is something fishy, or they don't care to pursue any investigation, since it's unprovable.

The answer is two words: We lost.

(10,501 posts)I'd like someone to explain how we could possible fix this in the future, when half the voters are willing to vote for someone like him, rather than someone like Kamala.
This isn't fixable.

There are a whole lot of people at risk because of whatever the hell got pulled off.
