Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHey Earl G! Could we have a "Blame & Recriminations" Forum?
Here's the plan:
In this forum only, Dem politicians and leaders can be attacked for campaign strategy or lack thereof.
Attacks on fellow DUers will not be tolerated.
On 12/1/2024, the Forum is trashed. Like it never happened.
Then, having gotten it out of our system, we move forward....or to a foreign country....

DU is funny. We are, by and by, Liberals...but we get very sensitive about criticism of fellow Dems. I get it. Going back to W Bush, we have had problems with disruptors. But we have been dealt a serious setback, and ruthless critical self-examination is called for. We need a place where that can be done...but with a time limit.

(22,524 posts)Although this time around, my impression has been that the finger-pointing is somewhat muted and is not exactly taking over the forum. If it becomes a problem, we can consider it.
For what it's worth, the normal state of affairs on DU over the years has been that Democratic leaders can be criticized quite harshly. It has only really been in the age of Trump that DUers have recognized the need to stand together and refrain from bashing one another too much, and Juries have acted accordingly.
So while I'm sure some DUers will be into it, my guess is that most will still not be too interested in trashing Democratic leaders. There are bigger things to worry about.

(5,932 posts)Once upon a time, I was OmahaBlueDog. I thought for sure Skinner would offer name change amnesty but didn't, so I bailed on a handle with thousands of posts and started over. I say this to let you know that I've been here since W -- when there was genuine fear of being a Liberal American in the post 9-11 surveillance state. I was here for Kerry, here for Obama, here when Hillary went down in flames, here for Biden and now here for this. I saw Dean supporters battle Kerry Supporters; Hillary supporters versus Barack supporters; and Sanders supporters versus Hillary supporters. I was juried for having the audacity to suggest that Joe Biden should release his delegates and that we should have an open convention. Now I'm here for this.
Algernon Moncrieff is a figment of Oscar Wilde's imagination. He said, in "The Importance of Being Earnest" that "The truth is rarely pure and never simple." I believe that. But I believe to get to that truth, some Dems in leadership and the candidate herself need to be opened to some blunt, harsh criticism from Dems/ Progressives who truly want the party to succeed but don't want mistakes repeated. At this moment, it kind of looks like we redid 2016.
In closing, thank you for taking over the site from Skinner/ David Allen. I'm not here like I used to be, but today I thought that we may again truly be an underground for 4+ years.
God Bless America ,
