Greg Palast warned us that this was going to happen: the rejection of millions of votes, mainly from Black, Hispanic, and Asian-American voters:
"Being right never felt so horrid.
Before the election, I wrote, How Trump Won (https://www.gregpalast.com/how-trump-wona-warning/)
And on Election night I waited for the returns to make a fool of me.
Instead, the returns made the fool a President.
And so, my vacations cancelled. My lifes cancelled; that is, a life of anything but sleuthing and exposing the details of the heist of our democracy."
"But the horror we face is countered by this one hard question the US media will ignore, but I cant: Did Donald Trump actually win this election? If so, was it really a landslide?
Heres something you wont read elsewhere: In the last Presidential, according to the official count of the federal Elections Assistance Commission, 2.7 million provisional ballots were rejected.
Whose ballots? If youre Black, Hispanic or Asian-American, the chance you were shunted to one of these provisional ballots is 300% higher than if youre white."
"With our investigative reports, with our hard and unassailable evidence, we can challenge the legitimacy of the Trump landslide. Its not about bringing down Trump, its about shoring up that fragile thing called Democracy."

Many of us felt in our gut that something wasn't right about this election. It makes me feel sick to think that they will probably get away with this.

(2,349 posts)And gerrymandering are the only ways those disgusting repukes ever win. Coupled with the electoral college and the necessity of our coalition of minorities to be unified every election (leaving us vulnerable to be pitted against each other) make it VERY challenging to win. But mostly it's their unethical shenanigans.

That's about right. He didn't do much to gain voters and did much to drive them away.
Harris got 13.5 MILLION fewer votes than Biden got in 2020. Undoubtedly there was some ratfuckery that suppressed her number. But the GOP is absolutely not competent enough to suppress 5 million votes, and certainly not > 13 million, and not have anybody notice?!
Harris got a couple million more votes than Hillary got in 2016, which is about the growth in population. It was Biden's 2020 vote that was extraordinary.
Here's the thing. America is seriously Fed up these days. Many of us believe that Trump's superpower is F-ing things up and profiting from the chaos. But the result is that, while the public almost always says we are on the wrong track, regardless of which party is in charge, the "wrong track" sentiment is multiplied tenfold in today's climate of chaos. People knew the country was a huge mess under Trump, and they came out in huge numbers for our side in 2020, and even stayed with us to some degree through the 2022 midterms. Unfortunately, with all the gaslighting about inflation and borders, many people still believe the "wrong track" and that's what got Harris. Remember 2 weeks is a big ask of Americans, so they simply could not remember what it was like with Trump before. And this campaign strangely avoided talking specifically about that.
If it is any consolation, Republicans almost always create recessions with their lousy economic stewardship, so by the 2026 midterms the "wrong track" sentiment will probably work for us.
This video, more than anything else, explains what has just happened to us. That is to say, it didn't "just" happen. It has been growing for 30 years and now it is completely upon us.
